New Brunswick (french: Nouveau-Brunswick, , locally ) is one of the thirteen provinces and territories of Canada. It is one of the three Maritime provinces and one of the four Atlantic provinces. Elgin Parish, New Brunswick
Elgin is a civil parish in the interior of Albert County, New Brunswick, Canada, the only one of the county's parishes that does not border either the Bay of Fundy or the Petitcodiac River. It comprises two local service districts, both of which are members of the Southeast Regional Service Commission. The Census subdivision of the same name includes all of the parish. Origin of name The parish was probably named in honour of Lord Elgin, who was appointed Governor-General of the Province of Canada in 1847. Albert County
Albert County (2016 population 29,158) is New Brunswick's third-youngest county located on the Western side of the Petitcodiac River on the Chignecto Bay in the Bay of Fundy. Prior to the abolition of county government in 1967, the shire town was Hopewell Cape. The county was established in 1845 from parts of Westmorland County and Saint John County, and named after Prince Albert. The mineral albertite was discovered a few miles away in 1849, giving rise to Albert Mines. Route 895 is a long north to south secondary highway in the southern portion of New Brunswick, Canada. Route description The route's northern terminus is in Five Points at Route 112. It follows a river and travels southeast to Price, Synton, Colpitts Settlements, Little River, and Parkindale. The route then turns southeast through Forest Hill and Pleasant Vale and it passes Gowland Mountain. It continues through Mapleton to the southern terminus of Route 905. The route then passes through Elgin, Midland, and Goshen, where it turns north-east towards Portage Vale and ends in Anagance at Route 1. Kent Hills Wind Farm
Kent Hills Wind Farm is a large wind farm project located southeast from Prosser Brook, New Brunswick. The wind farm was completed in three phases between 2008 and 2018. The farm was the first in New Brunswick. It is owned and operated by TransAlta and the power is purchased by NB Power for supply to consumers. As of 2021, the farm consisted of forty-nine 3-megawatt (MW) wind turbines and 5 3.45-MW turbines, for a total capacity of 167 MW. The project produces 580,000 megawatt hours per year. The turbines used are Vestas V90-3MW model, which have a rotor diameter of and sit atop an tower. In October 2021 a tower, in phase two of the project, collapsed because of a bad foundation. Initially all WTG were taken off line as a precaution. TransAlta Renewables have found deficiencies in the design of all of the windmill foundations. Elgin, New Brunswick
Elgin is a Canadian rural community in Albert County, New Brunswick. It is situated in the western part of the county, approximately 14 kilometres south of Petitcodiac around the intersection of Route 905, and Route 895 Elgin's economy is centred on agriculture and forestry, including dairy and beef production, as well as maple sugar and wild blueberry production. History The first European to settle in the Elgin area was John Geldart, Junior in c. 1806, the eldest son of John Geldart, the Yorkshire settler. Upon his arrival at the Pollett River, the land had extremely dense forest. He and other settlers constructed the first roads, although First Nations' paths existed. The community was named after James Bruce, 8th Earl of Elgin who was the Governor of the United Province of Canada.
