Prospect Park Station (Metro Transit)
Prospect Park is a light rail station on the Green Line in the Prospect Park neighborhood of Minneapolis. It is located in the median of 29th Avenue just south of the University of Minnesota Transitway between 4th Street Southeast and University Avenue. It is the last stop in Minneapolis on the Green Line before Saint Paul. History Construction of the rail line along the transitway began in 2011, and station construction began in 2012. During planning and early construction the station was known as 29th Avenue. The station opened along with the rest of the line in 2014. A bus rapid transit station, University & 29th Avenue, was considered for the E Line, but not pursued due to a too far distance between stations. Instead two stations at 27th Street and Malcolm Avenue were chosen. University Of Minnesota Transitway
The U of M Transitway is a busway that runs between the University of Minnesota's Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses. Use of the roadway is limited to buses, bicycles, and emergency vehicles. The University of Minnesota runs zero-fare buses along the busway connecting the two campuses, primarily the Campus Connector but also shuttles to and from the St. Paul campus for football games. A bicycle trail runs alongside the transitway for most of its distance. Between the endpoints, there are only two intersections with stoplights controlling busway traffic at Energy Park Drive and Como Avenue. The stoplights are designed to normally give the buses priority, so it is possible for many buses to run the length of the transitway without stopping. Westgate is a light rail station along the Metro Green Line in Saint Paul, Minnesota. It is located in the median of University Avenue with split side platforms either side of Berry Street. The westbound platform in on the north side of the tracks west of Berry Street, while the eastbound platform is on the south side of the tracks on the east side of the intersection. It is the last station in Saint Paul before entering Minneapolis. Construction in this area began in March 2011. The station opened along with the rest of the line in 2014. Unlike other stations along University Avenue in Saint Paul, it is named after the area rather than the cross street. Stadium Village is a light rail station on the Green Line on the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis. Located in the Stadium Village area, it lies east of 23rd Avenue Southeast between University Avenue and 4th Street, across the road from Huntington Bank Stadium. East of the station, the rail line parallels the U of M Transitway until 29th Street SE, where it turns to enter Prospect Park station. The Metro E Line is a planned bus rapid transit route in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Edina. The route will operate from Southdale Center Transit Center in Edina, Minnesota to Westgate station in St. Paul. Running mostly on France Avenue, Hennepin Avenue, and University Avenue, the line will serve major destinations such as Southdale Center, Fairview Hospital, 50th & France, Linden Hills, Uptown, Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, Downtown Minneapolis, Dinkytown, the University of Minnesota, and Prospect Park. Metro (styled as METRO) is a transit network in Minnesota serving the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. It also provides service to some suburban areas. As of 2022 the system consists of two light rail lines (Blue and Green Lines) and five bus rapid transit (BRT) lines ( Orange Line, Red Line, A, C, and D Lines) all of which are operated by the local public transit company: Metro Transit.
