Prospect Cricket Club
Prospect Cricket Club (the "Pirates") are a Grade Cricket team located in Adelaide, South Australia. Prospect competes in the South Australian Grade Cricket League, administered by the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA). 'A' Grade players in this competition vie for selection in South Australia's State team, which leads to possible selection in the Australian Cricket team. The club currently fields 4 senior and 6 junior teams and uses Prospect Oval for its A and B grade Home matches. History The Prospect District Cricket Club draws on the history of two predecessors, the Prospect Cricket Club and the North Adelaide Cricket Club. The Prospect Cricket Club was formed during the 1880s and joined the Adelaide and Suburban Cricketing Association as a foundation member at the start of the 1899/1900 cricket season. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Gary Cosier
Gary John Cosier (born 25 April 1953) is a former Australian international cricketer who played in 18 Test matches and nine One Day Internationals between 1975 and 1979. Cosier's star shone very briefly following a sensational debut, when he became only the ninth Australian to post a century in his first Test. Overview The stocky, redheaded Cosier was a middle-order batsman who often attacked the bowling when a more judicious method was the order of the day. Given an extended trial at international level over four seasons, he never really established himself as a Test batsman, although he was vice-captain of Australia for a brief period. South Australian Grade Cricket Clubs
South is one of the cardinal directions or compass points. The direction is the opposite of north and is perpendicular to both east and west. George Searcy
George Henry Grass Searcy (15 January 1855 – 6 January 1927) was an Australian sportsman, sports official and accountant. Family Searcy was born on 15 January 1855 in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, the son of Frederick Searcy and Dinah formerly Simmonds née Grass. His father, and uncle William, had arrived at Port Adelaide on 3 September 1849, on the ship ''Louisa Baillie''. Ernie Jones (Australian Sportsman)
Ernest Jones (30 September 1869 – 23 November 1943) was an Australian sportsman, playing Test cricket and Australian rules football. Jones played 19 Tests from 1894 to 1902 and represented Port Adelaide, North Adelaide and South Adelaide Football Clubs. Nicknamed ''Jonah'', Jones was one of the best and fastest bowlers of his time, initially erratic but subsequently gaining control of line and length to good effect. Jones worked as a customs officer, and one of his claims to fame as a cricketer was that he was known as 'The man who bowled a ball through W. G. John Hill (businessman)
Henry John Hill (6 March 1847 – 18 September 1926), always known as John Hill, was a South Australian businessman. Hill owned a coach-horse business in the early days of South Australia. He was the father of Clem Hill, the noted cricketer. History Hill was born at Walkerville, the eldest son of businessman and parliamentarian Henry Hill, he was educated at the Alberton school of the Presbyterian Rev. Mercer. Around 1858 he started work for his father in the goods department of Henry Hill & Co. which had a contract with the South Australian Railways. In 1866 the South Australian company Cobb & Co., an affiliate of the famous New South Wales stagecoach business, bought the business of William Rounsevell and John was put in charge. Lou Vincent (born 11 November 1978) is a former New Zealand cricketer and opening batsman. Nathan Michael Lyon (born 20 November 1987) is an Australian international cricketer. He made his Test debut in 2011 and plays domestic cricket for New South Wales. Lyon is an off spin bowler and a lower-order right-handed batsman. Considered the most successful off-spin bowler for Australia, Lyon holds the record for the most Test wickets taken by an Australian off-spin bowler, passing Hugh Trumble's 141 wickets in 2015. Callum Ferguson
Callum James Ferguson (born 21 November 1984) is a former Australian cricketer and commentator who has represented Australia in all three forms of international cricket. He also represented South Australia in the JLT One-Day Cup. He was formerly the captain of the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League before being released at the end of the 2020–21 season Ferguson began his domestic career in the 2004–05 season, and by 2009 his form in limited overs cricket was good enough for him to be selected by the Australian national cricket team. Andrew Zesers
Andris Karlis Zesers (born 11 March 1967) is a former Australian cricket team, Australian cricketer. He played as a right-arm specialist fast bowler. The son of a Latvian-born construction worker, Zesers ascended quickly to first-class ranks.
