Proof Positive (Greene Story)
"Proof Positive" is a short story by Graham Greene written in 1930 and first published in 1931 as the winner of the first prize (10 Guineas) in a newspaper ghost story competition. . Publication The story was collected in Greene's 1947 collection ''Nineteen Stories''. Inspiration The story was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's short story "The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar" (1845). Plot The story concerns a meeting of the 'local Psychical Society' at which guest speaker, Major Weaver, claims to have 'proof positive' that 'the spirit does not die when the body dies'. The Major appears ill and carries a handkerchief with an overpoweringly sweet odor. As he speaks his words become increasingly disjointed until finally it degenerates into an 'odd jangling note' as he collapses back into his chair. Steve Roach (born February 16, 1955) is an American composer and performer of ambient and electronic music, whose recordings are informed by his impressions of environment, perception, flow and space. His work has been influential in the trance and new-age genres. Roach has received two Grammy Award nominations for New Age Album of the Year: His 2017 album ''Spiral Revelation'' for the 60th Annual Grammy Awards., and 2018's ''Molecules Of Motion'' for the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. Roach's work has also been listed on "1,000 Recordings to Hear Before You Die." ''Proof Positive'' is a reality television paranormal investigation show broadcast by the SciFi Channel (now SyFy) beginning on October 6, 2004, through December 8, 2004. It was shown as part of the "SciFi Wednesday" evening schedule line up in the United States along with other reality television programs as ''Scare Tactics'' and '' Ghost Hunters''. ''Proof Positive'' ran for ten episodes. The show was hosted by actress Amanda Tapping of ''Stargate SG-1'' and ''Sanctuary''. Episode format During the first three segments of the program, the show investigated three different unexplained phenomena subjects such as ghost hauntings, remote viewing, past life regression, alien abductions and UFO sightings. During the fourth and final segment of the program, the show takes whatever evidence was gathered and hands it over to professionals for examination. Phillip Margolin
Phillip Margolin (born 1944) is an American writer of legal thrillers. Biography Margolin was born in New York City in 1944. After receiving a B.A. in Government in 1965, from American University in Washington, D.C., he worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in Liberia until 1967. He graduated from the New York University School of Law in 1970, and has worked for 25 years as a criminal defense attorney, an occupation of choice inspired by the ''Perry Mason'' books. He started to work in 1970 at the Oregon Court of Appeals. He published his first story, a short story titled "The Girl in the Yellow Bikini", in 1974, and became a full-time writer in 1996. He has written 12 books as of January 2007. He lists as his favourite writer Joseph Conrad, and among his favourite books ''War and Peace'' by Leo Tolstoy and ''Stone City'' by Mitchell Smith.
