Project ALS
Project ALS is a non-profit organization whose mission is to identify and support leading scientific research toward the first effective treatments and a cure for ALS. Founded in 1998 by Jenifer Estess, Valerie Estess, Meredith Estess, and Julianne Hoffenberg, Project ALS recruits scientists and doctors to work together toward a better understanding of ALS and other closely related neuro-degenerative diseases. Northport High School is a four-year secondary school in East Northport, New York, that serves as the high school for the Northport-East Northport Union Free School District which is composed of Northport, Eatons Neck, Asharoken and much of East Northport, all located in the Town of Huntington. Thomas Jessell
Thomas Michael Jessell (2 August 1951 – 28 April 2019) was the Claire Tow Professor of biochemistry and molecular biophysics at Columbia University in New York and a prominent developmental neuroscientist. In 2018, Columbia University announced his termination from his administrative positions after an internal investigation uncovered violations of university policies. He died shortly after from a rapidly neurodegenerative condition diagnosed as progressive supranuclear palsy. Jenifer Estess
Jenifer Estess (February 17, 1963 – December 16, 2003) was a Moline, Illinois-born theatre producer. She began her career as an actor after graduating from New York University with a B.A. in drama. Estess was a co-founder of Naked Angels theatre company in Manhattan; she was its producing director until 1993. She helped found the Nantucket Film Festival and the New York Women's Film Festival. Her memoir, ''Tales from the Bed: Living, Dying and Having It All'', was published posthumously in 2004, while a TV movie of her life had previously been aired on CBS in 2001, titled ''Jenifer'', which starred Laura San Giacomo in the title role. Debora L. Spar is the current Senior Associate Dean of Harvard Business School Online and former President of Barnard College, a liberal arts college for women of Columbia University.
