Progress Singapore Party
The Progress Singapore Party (abbreviation: PSP) is a centre-left political party in Singapore and is one of the three contemporary political parties represented in Parliament, alongside the governing People's Action Party (PAP) and opposition Workers' Party (WP). History The party was founded in 2019 by Tan Cheng Bock and 11 other members. They, together with Lee Hsien Yang, expressed that the current PAP leadership has "lost its way" and deviated from the founding principles of its founding fathers. The party was officially registered on 28 March 2019 after being approved by the Registry of Societies. The initial formation included 12 members, including some former People's Action Party's politicians. Tan Cheng Bock
Adrian Tan Cheng Bock ( zh, s=陈清木, p=Chén Qīngmù; born 26 April 1940) is a Singaporean politician and medical practitioner. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayer Rajah SMC between 1980 and 2001. He served as Secretary-General of Progress Singapore Party (PSP) between 2019 to 2021 and served as Progress Singapore Party (PSP) Chairman since 2021. Early life Tan was born on 26 April 1940 in Singapore. He came from a Hokkien-speaking family. Tan attended Radin Mas Primary School and Raffles Institution (RI). At RI, he was once the classmate of the future Prime Minister and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. He graduated from the University of Singapore (now National University of Singapore) in 1968 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. Tony Tan
Tony Tan Keng Yam (; born 7 February 1940) is a Singaporean former politician who served as the seventh president of Singapore between 2011 and 2017. He did not seek for a second term as president in 2017 due to a constitutional amendment. Prior to entering politics, Tan was a general manager at OCBC Bank. He made his political debut in the 1979 by-elections as a PAP candidate contesting in Sembawang SMC and won. He went on to served as Minister for Education between 1980 and 1991, Minister for Finance between 1983 and 1985, and Minister for Defence between 1985 and 1991, Deputy Prime Minister between 1995 and 2005, and Coordinating Minister for National Security between 2003 and 2005. The Singapore People's Party (abbreviation: SPP) is a political party in Singapore. History SPP was founded on 21 November 1994 by Sin Kek Tong, who led a pro-Chiam See Tong faction out of the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP). Over two years, Sin stood as the pro-tem leader until Chiam joined the party and assumed leadership in December 1996, at the time the Parliament was dissolved ahead of the 1997 general election. Bukit Timah, often abbreviated as Bt Timah, is a planning area and residential estate located in the westernmost part of the Central Region of Singapore. Bukit Timah lies roughly from the Central Business District, bordering the Central Water Catchment to the north, Bukit Panjang to the northwest, Queenstown to the south, Tanglin to the southeast, Clementi to the southwest, Novena to the east and Bukit Batok to the west.
