Progress Party (Thailand, 1983)
The Progress Party ( th, พรรคก้าวหน้า; ) was a political party active in Thailand between 1983 and 1989. History The Progress Party was founded on 10 December 1980 and registered on 22 March 1983 by Uthai Pimjaichon who had been speaker of the House of Representatives from April to October 1976 and later broken away from the Democrat Party. In the 1983 general election the Progress Party won three seats. In the 1986 general election the Progress Party won seven seats and in the 1988 general election the Progress Party won eight seats. Most of the party's seats represented constituencies in Eastern Thailand, more particularly Chachoengsao and Chonburi provinces. In 1989 Progress Party merged into the Solidarity Party. Uthai Pimjaichon
Uthai (, ) is a district ('' amphoe'') in the eastern part of Ayutthaya province, in Thailand. History The district was originally named Uthai Yai, but was renamed Uthai in 1916. Before the Ayutthaya kingdom was conquered by Burmese troops in 1767, Phraya Wachira Prakan (the later king Taksin) led his small group of soldiers against the Burmese troops to the east. He passed the Burmese troops and arrived at the territory in the morning. Then he named this area ''Uthai'', which mean 'risen sun'. Chonburi Province
Chonburi (, , ) is a province of Thailand (''changwat'') located in eastern Thailand. Its capital is also named Chonburi. Neighbouring provinces are (clockwise from north) Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, and Rayong, while the Bay of Bangkok is to the west.
