ProgPower USA
ProgPower USA is a progressive and power metal festival held annually in the United States since 2001. Its upcoming edition, ProgPower USA XXI is scheduled to take place on June 1–4, 2022. The festival's band selection process focuses on quality over quantity. In addition to the emphasis on the power and progressive metal genres, the festival has branched out into other genres with the inclusion of the "oddball" slot that doesn't fit the normal motif. ProgPower USA gives bands that have never performed in the States a chance to perform in the country. The festival has been described as a cultural experience for fans with autograph signing sessions, guest appearances, reunions, and meet-and-greets. Jag Panzer
Jag Panzer is an American power metal band from Colorado Springs, Colorado. History Jag Panzer came together in late 1981, being inspired by the onslaught of the new wave of British heavy metal. The original line-up consisted of Harry Conklin on vocals (later nicknamed the "Tyrant"), Mark Briody, the sole guitarist of the group in its first incarnation, John Tetley (bassist) and Rick Hilyard (drummer). The band was known as Tyrant in its first incarnation, but they soon had to change the name, because another band already existed in California with that name. They saw a poster featuring a German World War II tank, named ''Jagdpanzer'' literally "hunting tank" in German, but actually referring to what in English would be called a tank destroyer, which they decided to name their band after. Edguy
Edguy is a heavy metal band formed in Fulda, Germany in 1992. History Demos, AFM years (1992–2003) Edguy was founded in 1992 by 14-year-old students Tobias Sammet, Jens Ludwig, Dominik Storch and Dirk Sauer. The name "Edguy" was an affectionate epithet for their math teacher at the time. In 1994, the band released two demos, ''Evil Minded'' and ''Children of Steel''. These tapes were sent to many record labels, all of whom rejected the band, believing they would be unsuccessful in the music business. Undeterred, they self-released their "unofficial" debut album, '' Savage Poetry'', in 1995. They signed with AFM Records shortly after, who offered to re-release ''Savage Poetry'' with more widespread distribution. Silent Force
Silent Force is a German power metal band with neoclassical and progressive influences, founded by guitarist Alex Beyrodt. Band history The band was formed in 1999 by German guitarist Alex Beyrodt ( Sinner, Primal Fear, Voodoo Circle, The Sygnet) and American singer D.C. Cooper (of Royal Hunt fame). In 2000 their debut album '' The Empire of Future'' was released; along with Beyrodt and Cooper there were also Torsten Röhre on keyboards, André Hilgers (who will later play with Rage) and Thorsten Fleisch on bass. Kamelot is an American power metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed by Thomas Youngblood, in 1987. The Norwegian vocalist Roy Khan joined for the album ''Siége Perilous'', and shared songwriting credit with Youngblood until his departure in April 2011. On June 22, 2012, Youngblood announced on their website that their new vocalist would be the Swedish singer Tommy Karevik, who was first featured on Kamelot's album ''Silverthorn'' as the main vocalist, co-songwriter, and lyricist. Ark (Norwegian Band)
Ark was a progressive metal band from Norway founded by guitarist Tore Østby ( Conception, D. C. Cooper, Frankie's Playground, Redrum) and drummer John Macaluso (TNT, Riot, Spread Eagle, Alex Masi, Yngwie Malmsteen, Powermad), who later joined up with singer Jørn Lande to record two albums. Steel Prophet is an American power metal band led by the founder and main writer Steve Kachinsky. History The band started in 1984 in Middletown, Connecticut. Spiral Architect was a Norwegian progressive metal band from Oslo. The group formed in 1993 and recorded one demo and one full-length album, '' A Sceptic's Universe,'' as well as a Fates Warning cover "A Prelude to Ruin" for the tribute album ''Through Different Eyes – A Tribute to Fates Warning''. Nightingale (band)
Nightingale is a Swedish rock band from Örebro. History Nightingale began in 1995 as a solo project of Dan Swanö, designed to explore his brief fascination with more of a cleanly-sung rock style evident on Edge of Sanity tracks such as "Sacrificed". The first album '' The Breathing Shadow'' was recorded and mastered by Swanö alone in the space of a week at his home Unisound studio, and has been described by some as a tribute to goth rock band The Sisters of Mercy. The second album '' The Closing Chronicles'' was recorded in April 1996 with his brother Dag acting as producer and contributing some guitar parts. Balance of Power are a British heavy metal band formed in 1995. History Balance of Power was formed in 1995 by keyboardist Ivan Gunn, along with a group of musicians from the London rock scene. One of their first line-ups featured drummer Lionel Hicks, bassist Chris Dale, vocalist Tony Ritchie, and guitarists Bill Yates and Paul Curtis.
