"Privilege (Set Me Free)" is a song by the Patti Smith Group and released as the second single from their 1978 album ''Easter''. The original version of the song was titled "Free Me" and was written by Mel London and Mike Leander for the 1967 film '' Privilege''. Patti spoke sections of Psalm 23 over the instrumental bridge among other lyrical additions. Patti Smith
Patricia Lee Smith (born December 30, 1946) is an American singer, songwriter, poet, painter and author who became an influential component of the New York City punk rock movement with her 1975 debut album ''Horses''. Called the "punk poet laureate", Smith fused rock and poetry in her work. Her most widely known song is "Because the Night", which was co-written with Bruce Springsteen. The Irish Singles Chart is the Republic of Ireland's music industry standard singles popularity chart issued weekly by the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) and compiled on their behalf by the Official Charts Company. Paul Jones (born Paul Pond, 24 February 1942) is an English singer, actor, harmonicist, radio personality and television presenter. He first came to prominence as the original lead singer and harmonicist of the rock band Manfred Mann (1962–66) with whom he had several hit records including " Do Wah Diddy Diddy" ( UK #1, US #1) and " Pretty Flamingo" (UK #1).
