The Central Coast Section (CCS) is the governing body of public and private high school athletics in the portion of California encompassing San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, California, Santa Clara County, Monterey County, San Benito County, Santa Cruz County, California, Santa Cruz County and a few private schools in San Francisco. Latino College Preparatory Academy
Latino College Preparatory Academy (LCPA) is a chartered high school in San Jose, California. Biography It is situated within the East Side Union High School District, and specializes in providing a college preparatory environment for nearly 500 high school students from Spanish-speaking homes. The school is no longer operated by the National Hispanic University. Dr. Roberto Cruz was one of the main creators of this academy, his motivation was the necessity to motivate and help young Latinos enter postsecondary education, in 1998, Latinos represented 9.6 percent of the undergraduate population, which was Dr. Cruz main concern. Summit Preparatory Charter High School also known as Summit Prep, is a college preparatory and charter high school that was founded in 2003. Summit Prep is the first school founded by the charter management organization (CMO) Summit Public Schools, which has eight schools in the San Francisco Bay Area and three in Washington state. It is part of the Sequoia Union High School District. Academics Summit Prep follows the personalized, project-based learning curriculum known as Summit Learning. Liberty Baptist School, formerly United Baptist, was established in September 1968, in San Jose, California, consisting of ten pupils with Mrs. Cherie Noel as principal and teacher. Liberty Baptist School is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the American Association of Christian Schools. History On March 10, 1968, the United Baptist Church voted to purchase classrooms of McKinley School, which had been condemned for a freeway in the amount of $6,300. The building was worth about $150,000 new and was eight years old at the time of the purchase. KIPP San Jose Collegiate is a high school in San Jose, California, part of the KIPP chain. It is in the East Side Union High School District and was founded in 2008. KIPP San Jose Collegiate opened in August 2008. It was founded by Melissa Gonzales, who had been one of the original teachers at KIPP Heartwood Academy, a middle school also in East San Jose. As of the 2016–2017 school year, there were 499 students, of whom 75% were Latino, 22% were Asian/Pacific Islander, and 1% were African American. The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) is the governing body for high school sports in the U.S. state of California. CIF membership includes both public and private high schools. Kehillah Jewish High School is an independent college preparatory high school located in Palo Alto, California. "Kehillah" is a Hebrew word meaning "community." The school is one of a series of pluralistic (community) Jewish day schools in the United States at the high school level.
