Prison Leopards Football Club is a Zambian football club based in Kabwe, Zambia. The club plays its football in the Zambia Super League, the highest division in Zambian football. The club's kit manufacturer is Joma. History The club was founded in 1974. The club is based in the city of Kabwe, they play their matches at Godfrey Chitalu Stadium. It has played the majority of its seasons in the National Division One, but the club has enjoyed most of its success recently, being promoted to the Zambia Super League for the 2020-21 season, finishing 6th, before finishing 16th the next season. The Zambia Super League, known as the MTN Super League for sponsorship purposes, is the top association football league created in 1962 by the Football Association of Zambia. The winners of the league each season receives ZMW500,000 ($26,414.20) and a copper trophy engraved with their team name. Format The league is contested by 18 teams every season. Until 2018, it was scheduled to run within the calendar year from March to December. Kabwe is the capital of the Zambian Central Province and the Kabwe District, with a population estimated at 202,914 at the 2010 census. The Zambian National Division One is the second highest football division for men in Zambia and was introduced for the 2019/20 season with 18 teams. The league is administered by Zambian Premier League and is because of sponsorship reasons called Eden University National Division One League, as Eden University and FAZ signed a five year's agreement prior the inaugural season. The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Zambia Super League and Zambian Division One, and is played over 34 games. Structure of the league The league comprises 18 teams. Over the course of a season, each team plays twice against the others in the league, once at 'home' and once 'away', resulting in each team competing in 34 games in total.
