Priory School (Kingston)
The Priory School in Kingston, Jamaica teaches kindergarten, primary and secondary students, the latter under the name Priory High. History It was founded in 1944 as "The Priory House" by Henry Fowler, a Jamaican Rhodes scholar, political activist and patron of the arts and educational causes. Fowler was Priory's headmaster from its founding until his retirement in 1973. Campus Priory originally consisted of just one building, a former private residence "The Priory". This had been built in 1907 by the Governor of Jamaica Hugh Clarence Bourne to replace the previous building destroyed in the 1907 Kingston earthquake. This previous building had been in use as a rectory and it was in allusion to this that the name "Priory" was chosen for the new building. Priory School, Isle Of Wight
Priory School is a co-educational independent school in Whippingham, Isle of Wight. History The school was founded by Elizabeth Joan Goldthorpe in 1993 out of the closure of Upper Chine School with 14 primary aged pupils based in Shanklin. Later the position of Headteacher was taken over by her daughter, Katherine. The school grew to offer education up to GCSE Level. In 2009, the school was acquired by a parent, Edmund Matyjaszek BA (Oxon), whose family had been in education for generations. He expanded the school to A Levels in 2010. The school received Good Schools Guide Awards in 2010 and 2015 for Science education. In 2012, the school moved to the site of Queen Victoria's school at Whippingham, East Cowes, having acquired the freehold site from the local authority. Priory School is a British co-educational secondary school for 11- to 16-year-olds located on Mountfield Road in the East Sussex town of Lewes. History Priory School was originally formed in 1969 when the Lewes County Grammar School for Girls, the Lewes County Grammar School for Boys and the Lewes Secondary Modern School were amalgamated to form a comprehensive school called Priory School, its name referring to the nearby Lewes Priory. Harris Academy Orpington (formerly The Priory School) is a non-selective secondary school and sixth form with academy status in Orpington in the London Borough of Bromley which joined the Harris Federation in September 2016. History In 2006 its predecessor The Priory School gained specialist sports college status, focusing efforts on sports and the community; it was the only school in the borough to have this status. Priory School is a secondary school in Southsea, Hampshire, England. It is situated in the northern area of Southsea bordering Fratton, and lies close to Fratton railway station on the A2047. Stewart Vaughan is the Headteacher at the school. Priory school is an academy and part of the Bohunt Education Trust. History The current site was originally purchased by the Portsmouth School Board in May 1890 for £3000, at the time the area was known as "The Wilderness" due to the lack of development activity. Priory Preparatory School was a preparatory school in Banstead, Surrey, England, for boys aged two to thirteen years, which was closed in 2017. The school was a member of the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS) and of the Independent Schools Council (ISC). It was founded in 1921, and was a charitable trust. The Priory (C of E Aided) School, Dorking is a voluntary-aided Church of England school for pupils aged 11–16, in Dorking, Surrey. The Priory School is a secondary school with academy status in the market town of Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. The school was opened in September 1939 and became a Business and Enterprise College in 2003, with the addition of Applied GCSE courses to the curriculum.
