Princess Jayanti Of Nepal
Princess Jayanti Rajya Lakshmi Devi Shah of Nepal (August 4, 1946 – June 1, 2001) was a member of the Nepalese royal family. She was a granddaughter of Tribhuvan of Nepal, King Tribhuvan of Nepal. An active social worker, she is known for her contributions to cancer relief programs in Kingdom of Nepal, Nepal. She was one of the members of the Nepalese royal family who were killed in the Nepalese royal massacre. Early life and education Princess Jayanti was the first daughter of Prince Basundhara of Nepal and his first wife Princess Helen Shah of Nepal. Princess Jayanti was educated in Woodstock School, an international residential school in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, India, and in Loreto Convent, Darjeeling, Loreto Convent, Darjeeling. The Kingdom of Nepal ( ne, नेपाल अधिराज्य), also known as the Gorkha Empire ( ne, गोरखा अधिराज्य) or Asal Hindustan ( ne, असल हिन्दुस्तान)(), was a Hindu kingdom in South Asia, formed in 1768, by the unification of Nepal. Founded by King Prithvi Narayan Shah, a Gorkha monarch who claimed to be of Khas Thakuri origin, it existed for 240 years until the abolition of the Nepalese monarchy in 2008. During this period, Nepal was formally under the rule of the Shah dynasty, which exercised varying degrees of power during the kingdom's existence. The Most Puissant Order of the Gorkha Dakshina Bahu ( ne, गोरखा दक्षिण बाहु; Order of the Gurkha Right Arm ''or Hand'') was an order of knighthood of Nepal. It was one of the highest honors given traditionally by the king. It was awarded to both the military and civilians, including foreign nationals, for distinguished contribution to the country in the field of arts, literature, sports, science, and social service. It was the second highest honor of the Kingdom of Nepal after the Order of Tri Shakti Patta; the award was discontinued after the fall of monarchy in 2008.
