Prince Of Arcadia
''Prince of Arcadia'' is a 1933 British musical comedy film directed by Hanns Schwarz and starring Carl Brisson, Margot Grahame, Ida Lupino and Peter Gawthorne. The screenplay concerns a Ruritanian Prince who is due to marry a princess with acting ambitions, but has fallen in love with another woman. It is a remake of the 1932 German film ''The Prince of Arcadia''. It was shot at Walton Studios, with sets designed by the art director Andrew Mazzei. Hanns Schwarz
Hanns Schwarz (11 February 1888 – 27 October 1945) was an Austrian Empire, Austrian film director. He was born in Vienna on 11 February 1888. Biography He directed twenty four films between 1924 and 1937 in both English-language, English and German-language, German. During the late silent film, silent and early sound era, sound eras, he was a leading director at the large German studio Universum Film AG, UFA. In the early 1930s he worked on several Multiple-language version, multi-language version films for UFA, producing the same films in distinct German and foreign-language versions. Schwarz was Jewish and was therefore forced to leave Germany in 1933 when the Nazis took over, going into exile in Britain. His last film was the 1937 British thriller ''Return of the Scarlet Pimpernel''. He died in California on 27 October 1945. Annie Esmond (27 September 1873 – 4 January 1945) was a British stage and film actress. Esmond was born in Surrey, England. She made her stage debut in pantomime in Sheffield in 1891 and later appeared on the American as well as British stage for many years before going into silent films and later talkies. Andrew Mazzei
Andrew Mazzei (1887–1975) was a French-born British art director who designed the sets for more than sixty films during his career. Mazzei began his career in the late 1920s during the silent era including on the futuristic ''High Treason''. By the 1930s he was working for Gainsborough Pictures, designing backdrops for the critically acclaimed train-set thriller ''Rome Express'' in 1932. His 1940s work includes Gainsborough Melodramas such as '' Madonna of the Seven Moons'' and '' The Magic Bow'' as well as the Film Noirs ''The Upturned Glass'' and '' They Made Me a Fugitive''.
