''Prince Royce'' is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Prince Royce; it was released on March 2, 2010, through Top Stop Music. The production was handled primarily by Andrés Hidalgo, with other contributions made by Sergio George (who also served as the album's executive producer), George Meña, Bastiany, Gregory "Greko" Rojo and Nápoles. All songs were co-produced by Prince Royce and D'Lesly Lora. In the United States, the album was a commercial success. Upon its US release, it debuted at number 16 on the ''Billboard'' Top Latin Albums chart. It eventually reached number one on both the US ''Billboard'' Tropical Albums and Top Latin Albums charts and was the best-selling Latin album of 2011 in the United States. Geoffrey Royce Rojas (born May 11, 1989), known professionally as Prince Royce, is an American singer. At an early age, Royce took an interest in music, and in his teenage years began experimenting with music and writing poetry. By age nineteen, Royce met Andrés Hidalgo, who became his manager. Hidalgo later introduced Royce to record producer Sergio George, who immediately signed him to his label after hearing three of his demos. In March 2010, Royce released his eponymous debut studio album, which generated two commercially successful singles, " Stand by Me" and "Corazón Sin Cara". In the United States, both songs reached number-one on the ''Billboard'' Tropical Songs chart, while "Corazón Sin Cara" reached number-one on the ''Billboard'' Hot Latin Songs chart. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is a trade organization that represents the music recording industry in the United States. The Latin Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Tropical Album is an honor presented annually at the Latin Grammy Awards, a ceremony that recognizes excellence and promotes a wider awareness of cultural diversity and contributions of Latin recording artists in the United States and internationally. According to the category description guide for the 13th Latin Grammy Awards, the award is for vocal or instrumental contemporary tropical albums containing at least 51 percent playing time of newly recorded material. The 12th Annual Latin Grammy Awards was held on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and was hosted by Lucero and Cristián de la Fuente. The eligibility period for recordings to be nominated is July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011. The show will be aired on Univision. The Tropical Airplay chart (formerly known as Tropical/Salsa and Tropical Songs) is a record chart published by ''Billboard'' magazine introduced in 1994. The first number-one song on the chart was " Quien Eres Tu" by Luis Enrique. Originally, rankings on the chart were determined by the amount of airplay a song received on radio stations that primarily played tropical music, namely music originating from the Spanish-speaking areas of the Caribbean such as salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, vallenato, and tropical fusions.
