Prince Mumba (athlete)
Prince Moses Mumba is a Zambian former track and field athlete who specialized in the 800 meters. He competed for Zambia at the 2004 and the 2012 Summer Olympics. Mumba participated in three IAAF World Championships in Athletics, in 2005, 2009, and 2011. Additionally, he also represented Zambia in two All Africa Games in 2007 and 2011. He works as track and field coach at the Windward School in Mar Vista, California. Mumba was the flagbearer for Zambia at the 2012 Summer Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies. He was born in Kitwe, Zambia. By the age of 18, Mumba had competed in the 2002 Commonwealth Games and in the 2002 World Junior Championships in Athletics. The 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics () were held in Berlin, Germany from 15–23 August 2009. The majority of events took place in the Olympiastadion, while the marathon and racewalking events started and finished at the Brandenburg Gate. 2001 World Championships In Athletics
The 8th World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations, were held at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada between 3 August and 12 August and was the first time the event had visited North America. The music for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies was composed by Canadian composers Jan Randall and Cassius Khan. The ceremonies also featured a 1000 voice choir, and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Edmonton defeated bids from Paris, France (which hosted the next edition) and the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States to host the event. Micheal Flaherty is the co-founder and president of Walden Media, a production company which focuses on films that entertain and educate. Through Walden, he has developed educational materials and programs that incite enthusiasm in the classroom and connect learning to entertainment. The 2002 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XVII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Manchester 2002 were held in Manchester, England, from 25 July to 4 August, 2002. Mar Vista is a neighborhood on the Westside of Los Angeles, California. In 1927, Mar Vista became the 70th community to be annexed to Los Angeles. It was designated as an official city neighborhood in 2006. History Mar Vista was called Ocean Park Heights from 1904 to 1924. Windward School
Windward School is an independent school in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. It was founded by writer/teacher Shirley Windward in 1971. The school currently enrolls 625 students in grades 7 through 12. History In 1971, two former Paul Revere Middle School teachers, Carl Parsons and Shirley Windward (for whom the school is named), founded the school in order to open up their classes to young people on the West side of Los Angeles.
