Summerside, Prince Edward Island
Summerside is a Canadian city in Prince County, Prince Edward Island. It is the second largest city in the province and the primary service centre for the western part of the island. History Summerside was officially incorporated as a town on April 1, 1877. On April 1, 1995, the Town of Summerside amalgamated with the incorporated communities of St. Eleanors and Wilmot. Cornwall Curling Club
The Cornwall Curling Club is a curling club in Cornwall, Prince Edward Island, Canada. History The Cornwall Village Council decided in 1979 to build a curling rink in the community, and construction began in 1981. The club officially opened in January 1982. Despite a number of hiccups in its first season, it did not take long for the club to produce a provincial champion. Nancy Coffin, Sharon Cole, Pam Sherren, and Heather Worth won the 1983 Prince Edward Island Junior Women's curling championship. Champions In addition to winning the 1983 provincial women's junior championships, the club has won several other provincial titles. Sarah Fullerton
Sarah Fullerton (born March 8, 1991) is a Canadian curler from Cornwall, Prince Edward Island. Career Junior career Sarah Fullerton has been a rising star on the curling scene in Prince Edward Island. In 2003, she captured the P.E.I 11 and under title. She would also win the 15 and under title in 2006, and between 2006 and 2009 she would capture the 17 and under title three times. In 2010, Fullerton represented Prince Edward Island at the 2010 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, where her team would finish with a 6–6 record. She would return in 2011 and finish with a 7–5 record. In her final year of junior play Fullerton and her team would once again, qualify to represent Prince Edward Island at the 2012 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. 2012-current Fullerton and her team entered their first year of women's play at the 2012 Prince Edward Island Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Robyn MacPhee
Robyn MacPhee (born August 11, 1983 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, also known as Robyn Green) is a Canadian curling, curler. Curling career MacPhee played for Prince Edward Island at the 1999 Canada Games, finishing 12th. MacPhee played both second and third for Suzanne Birt (née Gaudet) during their junior careers. Playing second for the team, she won the 2001 Canadian Junior Curling Championships and a gold at the 2001 World Junior Curling Championships. At the 2002 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, 2002 Canadian Juniors, MacPhee played third for the team, and they won another Canadian Junior championship and a bronze at the 2002 World Junior Curling Championships, World Junior Championships. After juniors, MacPhee remained on Birt's team, and would play second once again. Kathy O'Rourke
Kathleen O'Rourke (born April 30, 1964) is a Canadian curler from Cumberland, Prince Edward Island. She is a six-time provincial champion and is a former Canadian Mixed Champion. She is currently the coach of the Suzanne Birt rink. Career O'Rourke played in her first national women's championship in 1989, playing second for Kathie Gallant. The team finished 4–7. In 1991, she made it again, playing second for Angela Roberts, finishing 2–9. She made her third trip in 1996, playing third for Susan McInnes, finishing 6–5. This qualified the team for a tie-breaker match, which they lost to the defending champion Connie Laliberte (Team Canada) rink. In 1999, she returned once again, playing third for Rebecca Jean MacPhee, finishing with a 6–5 record once again, but missing the playoffs. The 2021 PEI Scotties Tournament of Hearts Women's Championship, the women's provincial curling championship for Prince Edward Island, was held from January 29 to 30 at the Maple Leaf Curling Club in O'Leary, Prince Edward Island. The winning Suzanne Birt rink represented Prince Edward Island at the 2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Calgary, Alberta, and finished with a 4–4, just missing the championship round. The event was held in conjunction with the 2021 PEI Tankard, the provincial men's championship. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada, many teams could not commit to the quarantine process in order to compete at the national championship. Clubmates Suzanne Birt and Darlene London were the only two teams to enter the event. Team Birt won the best of five series in just three games.
