Primordial Lovers
''Primordial Lovers'' is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Essra Mohawk. Released on June 6, 1970, the album sold poorly. In 2000 the album was re-released by Rhino Handmade as a 22-track collection, combining the original album with a non-album single, "Jabberwock Song", and the 1974 follow-up album, ''Essra Mohawk''. The original 1970 Reprise issue of the album included a 20-page booklet with the album's song lyrics. In 2010 the original album was reissued by Collectors' Choice with five extra tracks. Essra Mohawk
Essra Mohawk (born Sandra Elayne Hurvitz on April 23, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter who has recorded a dozen albums, many receiving critical acclaim. Her best-known songs include "Sufferin' Til Suffrage" and "Interjections!" (both from ''Schoolhouse Rock!''), " Change of Heart", recorded by Cyndi Lauper and "Stronger Than the Wind", recorded by Tina Turner. Biography Hurvitz was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her first record, ''The Boy with the Way'', credited as Jamie Carter, was issued on Liberty Records in 1964. As Sandy Hurvitz, she was then discovered by Shadow Morton, who placed her songs with both the Shangri-Las ("I'll Never Learn") and the Vanilla Fudge ("The Spell That Comes After"). Barry Feinstein (February 4, 1931 – October 20, 2011) was an American photographer and filmmaker, known for his photographs of 1950s Hollywood, the 1960s music scene, and his close personal and professional relationships with celebrities like Bob Dylan and Steve McQueen. Edward Lee Thrasher Jr. (March 7, 1932 – August 5, 2006), known as Ed Thrasher, was an American art director and photographer. He was the recipient of numerous Grammy Award nominations for his work on album covers and won a Grammy for Best Album Package in 1974 for the Mason Proffit cover ''Come & Gone''. He worked with many recording artists, such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and the Beach Boys. He was born in Glendale, California, to a Los Angeles city councilman. John Haeny
John Haeny is an American-born music producer, recording and mixing engineer, sound designer and academic. From the late 1960s through the late 1980s he recorded, mixed and produced hundreds of albums. He worked with a variety of artists across multiple genres including Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Jim Morrison, Tom Jones, Warren Zevon and Linda Ronstadt to Weather Report, John Coltrane, Freddie Hubbard and Duke Ellington. Fritz Richmond
John B. "Fritz" Richmond (July 10, 1939 – November 20, 2005) was an American musician and recording engineer. Richmond was a washtub bassist and was also a professional jug player. Richmond, born in Newton, Massachusetts on July 10, 1939, was a founding member of The Hoppers, a school-chum jug band that played the coffeehouse circuit in the Boston area. Jug band music featured homemade or folk-style instruments such as the washboard (used for percussion), a large earthenware jug used as a wind instrument, and a single-string upright bass fashioned from a broomstick or similar handle, using a steel washtub as a resonator, with the player moving the handle in order to vary the tension on the string and thus vary the pitch of the note created by plucking. Al Aarons
Albert Aarons (March 23, 1932 – November 17, 2015) was an American jazz trumpeter. Biography Aarons was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit. He began to gain attention as a trumpet player in 1956, and started working with jazz artist Yusef Lateef and pianist Barry Harris in the latter part of that decade in Detroit. After a period playing with jazz organist Wild Bill Davis, he played trumpet in the Count Basie Orchestra from 1961 to 1969. In the 1970s, Aarons worked as a sideman for singers Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald, and saxophonist Gene Ammons. Dallas Woodrow Taylor Jr. (April 7, 1948 – January 18, 2015) was an American session drummer who played drums on several rock albums throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Life and career Taylor was born in Denver but grew up in San Antonio, Texas. He achieved some success with psychedelic rock band Clear Light in the late 1960s, but is best remembered as the drummer on Crosby, Stills and Nash's debut album, and their follow-up with Neil Young, ''Déjà Vu'' (1970), and was given a front-sleeve credit along with Motown bassist Greg Reeves.
