The Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program is a Creative Arts Emmy Award which is given annually to an animated series. In the following list, the first titles listed in gold are the winners; those not in gold are nominees, which are listed in alphabetical order. The years given are those in which the ceremonies took place. Rules Animated programs have the option to compete in broader program categories such as Outstanding Comedy Series, but cannot also submit for Outstanding Animation Program in the same year. ''The Simpsons'', for instance, unsuccessfully submitted the episodes "A Streetcar Named Marge" and "Mr. Plow" in 1993 and 1994 while ''Family Guy'' was successfully nominated in 2009. Several animated programs won Outstanding Children's Program prior to 1979 and, in the years since, ''Rugrats'', ''Winnie the Pooh'' specials and '' Star Wars Rebels'' have been nominated for that award. The Primetime Emmy Awards, or Primetime Emmys, are part of the extensive range of Emmy Awards for artistic and technical merit for the American television industry. Bestowed by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS), the Primetime Emmys are presented in recognition of excellence in American primetime television programming. ''The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'' is an animated television program that was broadcast in two parts on CBS on April 1 and 2, 1979, based on the 1950 novel '' The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'' by C. S. Lewis. Plot When four orphaned children Lucy, Susan, Edmund and Peter stumble into an old Wardrobe they find themselves in a magical land called Narnia with talking animals, fauns, hags, the Wicked White Witch and the great lion Aslan. There they meet the friendly Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, who help them on their quest to find Aslan the great lion. Only he can help save Lucy's friend Mr. Tumnus (the faun) from the White Witch. ''The Pink Panther in: Olym-Pinks'', is an animated sports-themed special featuring the Pink Panther. The show first aired on ABC on February 22, 1980 to coincide with the 1980 Winter Olympics. This was the last ''Pink Panther'' production to be produced by DePatie–Freleng Enterprises before reorganizing itself as Marvel Productions as well as the last ''Pink Panther'' production involving creator Friz Freleng before departing the company to return to Warner Bros. Friz Freleng
Isadore "Friz" Freleng (August 21, 1905May 26, 1995), credited as I. Freleng early in his career, was an American animator, cartoonist, director, producer, and composer known for his work at Warner Bros. Cartoons on the ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'' series of cartoons. In total he created more than 300 cartoons. He introduced and/or developed several of the studio's biggest stars, including Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Tweety, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam (to whom he was said to bear more than a passing resemblance), and Speedy Gonzales. (renamed ''Pontoffel Pock & His Magic Piano'' for the sing-a-long videocassette release) is an animated musical television special written by Dr. Seuss, directed by Gerard Baldwin, produced by DePatie–Freleng Enterprises, and completed in 1979 but first aired on ABC on May 2, 1980. Gerald David "Lorenzo" Music (May 2, 1937 – August 4, 2001) was an American actor, producer and writer. Music began his career in the late 1960s as a writer and a regular performer on the controversial CBS variety show ''The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour''. In the 1970s, Music co-created the sitcom '' The Bob Newhart Show'' with David Davis and composed its theme music with his wife, Henrietta. He also wrote episodes for ''The Mary Tyler Moore Show'' and ''Rhoda'', and got his major voiceover role for playing the unseen, but often heard, Carlton the Doorman in ''Rhoda''. ''Carlton Your Doorman'' is a 1980 American television pilot for an animated spin-off of the live-action sitcom ''Rhoda'' (1974–78) that was never picked up as a series. Synopsis Carlton is a New York City doorman and a misfit who seeks to better himself and his position in society. Bill Melendez
José Cuauhtémoc "Bill" Melendez (November 15, 1916 – September 2, 2008) was an American character animator, voice actor, film director and producer. Melendez is known for working on the ''Peanuts'' animated specials. Before ''Peanuts'', he previously worked as an animator for Walt Disney Productions, Warner Bros. Cartoons, and UPA. Melendez provided the voices of Snoopy and Woodstock in the latter as well. In a career spanning over 60 years, he won six Primetime Emmy Awards and was nominated for thirteen more.
