Prime Minister Of Jammu And Kashmir
The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir was the title given to the head of government of Jammu and Kashmir. As per the Constitution of India, the Lieutenant Governor is the state's ''de jure'' head, but ''de facto'' executive authority rests with the chief minister. Following elections to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, the Lieutenant Governor usually invites the party (or coalition) with a majority of seats to form the government. The Lieutent Governor appoints the chief minister, whose council of ministers are collectively responsible to the assembly. The post was established after the 6th amendment to the state's constitution (effective 6 June 1965) abolished the title of ''Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir''. Subsequently, the ruling prime minister, Ghulam Mohammed Sadiq, was sworn in as the first Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
