Prime Minister's Official Spokesperson
The prime minister's official spokesperson or alternatively prime minister's official spokesman/spokeswoman is a position in the United Kingdom's Civil Service, located in the Prime Minister's Office in 10 Downing Street and used by the British prime minister to convey information to the public. The prime minister's official spokesperson usually addresses a small group of press and media correspondents, known as lobby correspondents, each morning to deliver statements on current events on behalf of the prime minister. James Slack was appointed as the prime minister's official spokesperson on 10 February 2017. He remained in the post after Boris Johnson took over the government on 24 July 2019. PR Week
''PRWeek'' is a trade magazine for the public relations industry. The original UK edition was the brainchild of the late Geoffrey Lace who at the time worked for Haymarket. After failing to interest Haymarket in his idea he left to launch it on his own circa 1981. Peter Gummer (now Lord Chadlington) had founded Shandwick a few years earlier in 1974 aged 31. Lace persuaded Shandwick, Dewe Rogerson and a few others to invest into PR Week. PRWeek ran on a shoe string right up until the point it was sold it back to Haymarket, his former employers, for a very large sum circa 1988. Theresa May
Theresa Mary May, Lady May (; née Brasier; born 1 October 1956) is a British politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party from 2016 to 2019. Helen Alice Bower-Easton CBE (born 1978) is a British civil servant who was the first woman to serve as the Prime Minister's Official Spokesperson. She is Director of Communication at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Life Helen Bower was born in Birmingham, the daughter of John and Diana Bower. She was educated at Edgbaston High School for Girls and Cardiff University, graduating in 2001 with a BA in Economics and EU Studies with French and Italian. Bower entered the Civil Service in 2003. Jean-Christophe Gray
Jean-Christophe Gray (born November 1975) is a former British civil servant who served as the Prime Minister's official spokesperson for David Cameron between 2012 and 2015. In 2021, he became the Private Secretary to Prince William. Career Jean-Christophe Gray read Modern History at the University of Oxford (1994–1997) and went on to earn an MSc degree in European Politics & Policy from the London School of Economics (1997–1998). Grey was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2015 dissolution honours for public service. Simon David Lewis OBE (born 8 May 1959) is the former chief executive of the Association for Financial Markets in Europe. Michael James Ellam (born 4 October 1968) is a British banker and former civil servant.
