Prima Divisione
Prima Divisione (''First Division'') was the name of the first level of the Italian Football Championship from 1921 to 1926. The competition was initially founded in opposition to the FIGC by the richest clubs of Northern Italy, which disagreed the old format of the championship, based on plethoric regional groups. In 1921–22, two concurrent championships took place, before FIGC accepted the new format for 1922–23. History The Prima Divisione was divided in two leagues: Lega Nord ''(Northern League)'' and Lega Sud ''(Southern League)''. The Lega Nord championship was the main competition, and it was divided in two groups of twelve teams each. 1921–22 Prima Divisione (C
The 1921–22 Prima Divisione season was won by Pro Vercelli. The CCI Italian Football Championship was formed during the summer of 1921, as a result of a dispute between the ''Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio'' and the main teams. The teams asked for a reduction of the number of participants in the ''First Category''. Vittorio Pozzo, the Italian football coach, developed a plan to accommodate the teams' requests but, after a vote, the plan did not pass: the smaller clubs feared that they would disappear if such a reduction was introduced. This led to the creation of a new Italian football federation, the CCI (''Italian Football Confederation'', in Italian ''Confederazione Calcistica Italiana''), that organized a championship concurrent with the FIGC championship. Brescia Calcio, commonly referred to as Brescia (), is an Italian football club based in Brescia, Lombardy, that currently plays in . The club holds the record for total number of seasons (64) and consecutive seasons (18, from 1947–48 to 1964–65) in Serie B, which they have won four times. Unione Calcio Sampdoria, commonly referred to as Sampdoria (), is an Italian professional football club based in Genoa. The club was formed in 1946 from the merger of two existing sports clubs whose roots can be traced back to the 1890s, Sampierdarenese and Andrea Doria. Fulvio Bernardini (; 28 December 1905 – 13 January 1984) was an Italian football player and coach, who played as a midfielder. He is regarded as one of Italy's greatest ever footballers and managers. Club career During his playing career, Bernardini played for Lazio, Inter, Roma and M.A.T.E.R. at club level. Ferenc Hirzer
Ferenc Hirzer (21 November 1902 – 28 April 1957) known in Hungarian as Ferenc Híres was a Hungarian football player and manager, who played as a forward during the 1910s and 1920s; he is perhaps best known for his time with Italian side Juventus. He also played for the Hungarian national football team thirty-two different times, scoring fourteen goals. Club career Hirzer began his football career in 1913 with local Budapest side Törekvés SE, which was put together by railroadmen. 1925–26 Prima Divisione
The 1925–26 Prima Divisione season, its final season, was won by Juventus. Northern League Regular season Udinese and Parma FC had been promoted from the Second Division. Goal average was introduced eliminating the tie-breakers. The Northern League decided to create the Serie A with 16 teams starting in 1926, so the last four teams of each group should be relegated. However, just after the end of the regular season the fascists postponed thus project under protests of Southern clubs which would be excluded. Mario Magnozzi
Mario Magnozzi (; 20 March 1902 – 25 June 1971) was an Italian footballer who played as a forward. He competed in the 1928 Summer Olympics with the Italy national team. Club career Magnozzi was born in Livorno, and played for his home-town team from 1920 until 1930. In 1920 Livorno won the ''Torneo del Sud'', after which it was defeated by Inter (winner of ''Torneo del Nord'') in the final for the overall Italian title. The match finished 3–2 for Internazionale, with both of Livorno's goals being scored by Magnozzi. During the 1924–25 season with Livorno, he was the top scorer in Serie A. In 1930 he moved to A.C.
