Priestlands School
Priestlands School is a coeducational secondary school located in Pennington, Hampshire in southern England. The school serves an area that includes the villages of Beaulieu, Brockenhurst, East Boldre, Hordle, Norleywood, Pilley, South Baddesley, Sway and the towns of Lymington and Milford-on-Sea. History The oldest part of the school, built circa 1800, and the grounds were once the home of Rear-admiral John Peyton who commanded at the Battle of the Nile in 1798. The school was founded in 1957. Previously a community school and specialist arts college, in August 2011 the school converted to academy status. A 2008 Ofsted inspection assessed the school as Grade 1 (Outstanding). In 2012 it was judged Good. As of 2022, the school's most recent inspection was a short inspection in 2016 which found that the school remains Good. Academy (English School)
An academy school in England is a state-funded school which is directly funded by the Department for Education and independent of local authority control. The Battle of the Nile (also known as the Battle of Aboukir Bay; french: Bataille d'Aboukir) was a major naval battle fought between the British Royal Navy and the Navy of the French Republic at Aboukir Bay on the Mediterranean coast off the Nile Delta of Egypt from the 1st to the 3rd of August 1798. The battle was the climax of a naval campaign that had raged across the Mediterranean during the previous three months, as a large French convoy sailed from Toulon to Alexandria carrying an expeditionary force under General Napoleon Bonaparte. Joe Quigley
Joseph Richard Quigley (born 10 December 1996) is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for Chesterfield. He was previously at AFC Bournemouth, and has played in the English Football League on loan at Gillingham and Newport County. Jordan Rose (born 22 November 1989) is an English footballer who plays as a defender for Winchester City. Samuel Michael Vokes (born 21 October 1989) is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for EFL League One club Wycombe Wanderers and the Wales national team. Vokes began his professional career at AFC Bournemouth in League One, making his debut in 2006. Russell Perrett (born 18 June 1973) is an English former footballer who spent most of his career with Portsmouth and Luton Town. He started his career in non-league football with Lymington Town in the Wessex League where he holds the record as the youngest player to play in that league at age 14. Paul Rideout (born 14 August 1964) is an English former professional footballer and youth team coach of Major League Soccer side Sporting Kansas City. As a player, he was a striker from 1980 until 2002, notably in the Premier League with Everton where he scored the winning goal in the 1995 FA Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium. Eco-Schools is an international programme of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) that aims to “empower students to be the change our sustainable world needs by engaging them in fun, action-orientated, and socially responsible learning.” Each school follows a seven step change process and aims to “empowers young people to lead processes and actions wherever they can.” Over time and through commitment to the Eco-Schools Seven Step process, improvements will be seen in both the learning outcomes, attitude, and behaviour of students and the local community, and ultimately the local environment.
