Pretender
A pretender is someone who claims to be the rightful ruler of a country although not recognized as such by the current government. The word may refer to a former monarch or a descendant of a deposed monarchy, although this type of claimant is also referred to as a head of a house. ''The Pretender'' is the fourth album by the American singer-songwriter Jackson Browne, released in 1976. It peaked at No. 5 on ''Billboard'''s album chart. The singles from the album were " Here Come Those Tears Again", which reached No. 23, and " The Pretender", which peaked at No. 58. History ''The Pretender'' was released after the suicide of Browne's first wife, Phyllis Major, and one of the album's songs " Here Come Those Tears Again" (co-written by Major's mother Nancy Farnsworth) is dedicated to her. The album has production by Jon Landau and a mixture of styles. The title track was used in the 1995 film '' Mr. Holland's Opus''. The album was certified as a gold record in 1976 and platinum in 1977 by the RIAA. It reached multi-platinum in 1997 and 2006. Pretender (horse)
Pretender (1866–1878) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. After showing promise as a two-year-old in 1868 he improved to become a top class performer in the early part of the following year. He won the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and The Derby. Pretender was the last horse trained in the North of England to win the Derby until Dante in 1945; no other has won since. He failed to complete the Triple Crown when he was beaten in the St Leger at Doncaster. Pretender’s form subsequently deteriorated and he failed to record any significant wins despite staying in training for two more seasons. He made no impression as a stallion. Background Pretender was a bay or brown horse standing 16 hands high bred by William Sadler of Doncaster and sold for 400 guineas as a yearling to the trainer Thomas Dawson, acting on behalf of John Johnstone. ''Happy to You'' is the second studio album by Swedish indie pop band Miike Snow. It was released in the United States on 13 March 2012 by Downtown Records and Universal Republic Records, and in the United Kingdom on 19 March 2012 by Columbia Records. Following the success of her self-titled debut album, Madonna wanted to become the record producer of her next album. However, her label was not ready to give her the artistic freedom and she chose Nile Rodgers instead to produce the album due to his work with David Bowie. Madonna wrote six songs on the record, five of which feature Steve Bray as a co-writer. The album was recorded at Power Station Studio in New York at a quick pace. Lillasyster is a Swedish rock band formed in Gothenburg in 2006. They released their debut album, ''Hjärndöd musik för en hjärndöd generation'' (Braindead Music For A Braindead Generation) in May 2007.
