Prestea-Huni Valley is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. Robert Wisdom Cudjoe is the member of parliament for the constituency. He was elected on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won a majority of 56,464 votes to become the MP. . Western Region, Ghana
The Western Region is located in south Ghana, spreads from the Ivory Coast ( Comoé District) in the west to the Central region in the east, includes the capital and large twin city of Sekondi-Takoradi on the coast, coastal Axim, and a hilly inland area including Elubo. Robert Wisdom Cudjoe is a Ghanaian politician who served as a member of parliament for the Prestea-Huni Valley Constituency. Early life and education Cudjoe was born on 6 June 1965. He hails from Aboso Nsuaem in the Western Region of Ghana Ghana (; tw, Gaana, ee, Gana), officially the Republic of Ghana, is a country in West Africa. National Democratic Congress (Ghana)
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a social democratic political party in Ghana, founded by Jerry Rawlings, who was Head of State of Ghana from 1981 to 1993 and the President of Ghana from 1993 to 2001. Following the formation of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), which ruled Ghana following the military coup d'état on 31 December 1981, there was pressure from the international community to restore democracy. The NDC was formed as the ruling party ahead of elections in 1992, in which Rawlings was elected president, and in 1996 Rawlings was re-elected as the NDC candidate. Rawlings' second term ended in 2001. The NDC lost the presidency in the 2000 election, and it was not until the 2008 election, that they regained it with John Atta Mills as its candidate. In a first-past-the-post electoral system (FPTP or FPP), formally called single-member plurality voting (SMP) when used in single-member districts or informally choose-one voting in contrast to ranked voting, or score voting, voters cast their vote for a candidate of their choice, and the candidate who receives the most votes wins even if the top candidate gets less than 50%, which can happen when there are more than two popular candidates. Barbara Oteng Gyasi (born 5 October 1964) is a Ghanaian politician and the former Member of Parliament of Prestea Huni-Valley constituency of the Western Region of Ghana. She is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and was a Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources in Ghana and also the former Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.
