Presseclub
''Presseclub'' is an information show aired weekly on sunday from 12:03 to 12:45 on Das Erste, Phoenix, and WDR 5. Content In ''Presseclub'', four to five journalists discuss current topics. In contrast to its predecessor show, Presseclub is more related to topics in Germany, foreign journalists are rarely invited. The audience then has 15 minutes to ask questions by telephone. This interactive part of the show called "Presseclub Nachgefragt" ("Presseclub Asked") is only aired on Phoenix and WDR 5. The program is generally characterized by a calm, conversational atmosphere. History ''Presseclub'' was first aired on December 27, 1987 on Das Erste. On November 12, 1989, Presseclub was broadcast live from East Berlin on the subject of the topic "DDR – Land zwischen Aufbruch und Umbruch" ("GDR - Land between New Beginnings and Upheaval"), making it the first West German television program from the GDR. Ellen Ehni
Ellen Ehni (born 1973 in Heidelberg) is a German journalist. At Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) she heads the programme group for business and law. Life and career Ehni studied German and French law at the University of Cologne, University of Paris and Humboldt University in Berlin, where she passed her legal state examination. After an internship at Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), she worked there as a journalist. She was an editor at ''NDR aktuell'' and reporter for the news programmes Tagesschau and Tagesthemen. Ehni joined the WDR in 2004 as editor of the programme group "Economy and Law" and worked for the programmes ''Markt'', ''Plusminus'' and ''ARD Ratgeber Recht''. Das Erste (; "The First") is the flagship national television channel of the ARD association of public broadcasting corporations in Germany. Phoenix (German TV Station)
Phoenix (stylised as ) is a German free-to-air television channel which is operated jointly by public-service broadcasters ARD and ZDF. It broadcasts documentaries, news, special events coverage and discussion programmes. Phoenix's headquarters are in Bonn, the former West German capital. On November 15th 2022, Phoenix closed its SDTV feed across its cable and satellite feeds, but the SD feed can still be received via an antenna. Programming Phoenix broadcasts a deaf-subtitled version of the Tagesschau, ARD's flagship news broadcast, and ZDF's premier news broadcast Heute-Journal, in German Sign Language. Fritz Pleitgen
Fritz Ferdinand Pleitgen (21 March 1938 – 15 September 2022) was a German television journalist and author. He was correspondent in Moscow, East Berlin and Washington. Pleitgen was a supporter of Willy Brandt's Ostpolitik. In 1988, Pleitgen became editor-in-chief of television of Germany's then-largest public broadcaster, Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), and was director of WDR from 1995 to 2007. He is regarded as one of the most influential German journalists and media makers. In 2010, he was the manager of Ruhr.2010, a project of European Capital of Culture. West Germany is the colloquial term used to indicate the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG; german: Bundesrepublik Deutschland , BRD) between its formation on 23 May 1949 and the German reunification through the accession of East Germany on 3 October 1990. The Sabines (; lat, Sabini; it, Sabini, all exonyms) were an Italic people who lived in the central Apennine Mountains of the ancient Italian Peninsula, also inhabiting Latium north of the Anio before the founding of Rome. The Sabines divided into two populations just after the founding of Rome, which is described by Roman legend. The division, however it came about, is not legendary. The population closer to Rome transplanted itself to the new city and united with the preexisting citizenry, beginning a new heritage that descended from the Sabines but was also Latinized. The second population remained a mountain tribal state, coming finally to war against Rome for its independence along with all the other Italic tribes.
