Presque Isle is the commercial center and largest city in Aroostook County, Maine, United States. The population was 8,797 at the 2020 Census. The city is home to the University of Maine at Presque Isle, Northern Maine Community College, Husson University Presque Isle, Northern Maine Fairgrounds, The Aroostook Centre Mall, and the Presque Isle International Airport. Gerald Evan Williams (December 17, 1907 – February 17, 1949) was an American officer in the Ninth Air Force during World War II. Background and family Gerald Evan Williams was born in Bridgewater, Maine to Myron Luther Williams and Lottie Belle "Belle" (Barrett) Williams. His father's family had lived in Bradford, Maine since before the Civil War, but in his teens Myron moved to the rural potato-growing area of Bridgewater, where he lived with his sister's family, before his marriage. Belle Williams was born in Bridgewater, the daughter of a Canadian-born farmer. Myron Williams worked as a potato buyer. Alexander Willette
Alexander Reginald Willette (born April 2, 1989) is an American politician from Maine. In 2010, the Republican Willette was elected to represent District 7 in the Maine House of Representatives, covering much of central Aroostook County including part of the city of Presque Isle. He served as the Assistant Republican Leader, and, during his time in the Legislature, was both the youngest member of legislative leadership in Maine's history and the youngest in the United States. Warren Max Silver (born February 4, 1948 in Presque Isle, Maine) is an American lawyer and state supreme court justice. Silver attended Presque Isle High School and earned his undergraduate degree at Tufts University. He followed his undergraduate work by studying law at American University's Washington College of Law. After his graduation in 1973, Silver returned to Maine, and in 1977, established a law practice in Bangor, Maine. Silver operated his practice, during which he represented Stephen King and served on the Board of Governors of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association and as Chairman of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court's Civil Rules Committee, until early July 2005 when he sold it and its building to Cuddy and Lanham, another Bangor-based law firm.
