Premio Tudini
The Premio Tudini is a Group 3 flat horse race in Italy open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older. It is run at Capannelle over a distance of 1,200 metres (about 6 furlongs), and it is scheduled to take place each year in May. The event was formerly known as the Premio Melton, and it held Group 3 status for a period in the 1970s. It was promoted to Group 2 level in 1979. The Premio Melton was subtitled the Memorial Tudini during the 1990s. It was relegated back to Group 3 status in 1996. It was run as the Premio Tudini Piero e Ugo in the early 2000s, and it subsequently became the Premio Tudini. The Premio Tudini is currently staged at the same meeting as the Derby Italiano. Northjet
Northjet (foaled 22 May 1977) was an Irish-bred, French-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He showed useful form in his early career, winning five races in Italy including the Group Two Premio Melton before being transferred to race in France in 1980. In early 1981 he won the Prix du Muguet but was beaten in several races and appeared to be just below the highest class. Northjet established his reputation in the late summer of 1981 when he recorded a five length victory over a very strong field in the Prix Jacques Le Marois and then won the Prix du Moulin in course record time. He was generally recognised as the best older horse and the best miler to race in Europe that season. He was then retired to stud where he was a complete failure as a breeding stallion. Christophe Soumillon
Christophe Soumillon (born 4 June 1981) is a Belgian jockey based in France. Career Coming from a racing background, Soumillon is the son of jump jockey Jean-Marc Soumillon. He rode in pony races and left Belgium aged fifteen to go to the racing school in Chantilly, France, where he was then apprenticed to trainer Cédric Boutin. Soumillon rode his first Group race winner aged eighteen when Berine's Son, trained by André Fabre, won the 2000 Prix de Fontainebleau. The following season he won four Group 1 races, including the Prix du Jockey Club on Anabaa. Jason Charles Weaver (born 9 February 1972) is a former, classic-winning, British flat racing jockey who had his major successes in the mid-1990s. In total, Weaver rode more than 1,000 winners in a career which spanned fourteen years. Since retiring he has worked as a presenter and pundit, and currently works on ITV Racing and Sky Sports Racing. Hever Golf Rose (22 February 1991 – September 1999) was a thoroughbred racehorse who was bred and trained in the United Kingdom, and campaigned throughout Europe in a career that lasted from 1993 to 1998. She was a specialist sprinter, showing her best form over distances of five and six furlongs (1000m and 1200m), who was known for her consistency and durability, and was particularly effective on soft ground. In a six-year career, she ran in sixty-six races and won seventeen. In her best season in 1995 she won six Group races and was named European Champion Sprinter.
