Premio Lo Nuestro 2002
The 14th Lo Nuestro Awards ceremony, presented by Univision and honoring the best Latin music of 2001 and 2002, took place on February 7, 2002, at a live presentation held at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida. The ceremony was broadcast in the United States and Latin America by Univision. During the ceremony, twenty-nine categories were presented. Winners were announced at the live event and included Puerto-Rican American singer Olga Tañón receiving four competitive awards. Mexican band Palomo won three awards. Mexican singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel, Chilean band La Ley, and Mexican-American performer Lupillo Rivera earned two accolades. Knight International Center
The James L. Knight Center is a contemporary entertainment and convention complex located in Downtown Miami, Florida. Located within the Miami Central Business District, the venue opened in 1982. The complex is named after famed newspaper publisher, James L. Knight. Since its opening, the complex has hosted many business, entertainment and political events. Annually, it hosts Miami Dade College graduation ceremonies. It also hosted Miss Universe in 1984 and 1985, Miss USA in 1986 and Miss Teen USA in 1985 and the OTI Festival in 1989. Clef
A clef (from French: 'key') is a musical symbol used to indicate which notes are represented by the lines and spaces on a musical stave. Placing a clef on a stave assigns a particular pitch to one of the five lines, which defines the pitches on the remaining lines and spaces. The three clef symbols used in modern music notation are the G-clef, F-clef, and C-clef. Placing these clefs on a line fixes a reference note to that line—an F-clef fixes the F below middle C, a C-clef fixes middle C, and a G-clef fixes the G above middle C. Regional Mexican Airplay (also referred to as Regional Mexican Songs) is a record chart published by ''Billboard'' magazine. It was established by the magazine on October 8, 1994, with "La Niña Fresa" by Banda Zeta being the first number-one song on the chart. The chart mainly focuses on musical styles originating from Mexico including Mariachi, Norteño, Banda and Duranguense as well as the Mexican American community in the United States such as Tejano. These genres are collectively referred to as " Regional Mexican" under the Latin music umbrella. "Abrázame Muy Fuerte" (''Hug Me Tightly'') is a song written and performed by Mexican singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel. The song was produced and arranged by Bebu Silvetti and it was released as the second single from the album of the same title.
