Premiership Rugby Sevens Series
The Premiership Rugby Sevens Series is a friendly Rugby Sevens competition for the twelve Premiership Rugby clubs that will play the following season (i.e. the 2010 competition features the teams playing in the Aviva Premiership in the 2010–11 season). It was started in 2010, as an off-season competition, held during the months of July and August. Between 2014 and 2016 the competition included the four Welsh regions which compete in the Pro14. Format All the games are played according to the International Rugby Board Laws of the Game – 7s Variations. Pool phase Originally, the twelve Premiership clubs were split into three pools, each playing on three consecutive Friday nights, on one of the teams grounds. Following expansion, the four Welsh regions compete in their own pool. Teams play on a round-robin format and are awarded points based on the results of the matches. The Stoop
Twickenham Stoop Stadium (informally referred to as The Stoop) is a sports stadium located in south-west London, England. Welford Road Stadium
Welford Road (currently known as Mattioli Woods Welford Road for sponsorship reasons) is a rugby union stadium in Leicester, England, and is the home ground of Leicester Tigers. The ground was opened on 10 September 1892, and is located between Aylestone Road and Welford Road on the southern edge of the city centre. 2018 Premiership Rugby Sevens Series
The 2018 Premiership Rugby Sevens Series would be the eighth rugby union sevens competition for the twelve clubs who compete in the 2018–19 Premiership Rugby clubs. It was also the second to feature the new format in which all twelve Premiership Rugby teams feature together in one venue over two days. Franklin's Gardens (currently known for sponsorship purposes as cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens) is a purpose-built rugby stadium in Northampton, England. It is the home stadium of Northampton Saints. The stadium holds 15,249 people. The four stands are: Carlsberg Stand; Cinch Stand; Church's Stand; and Barwell Stand. The 2017 Premiership Rugby Sevens Series was the eighth rugby union 7-a-side competition for the twelve 2017–18 Aviva Premiership clubs, and the first to exclude the four Welsh Regions which compete in the Pro14, since 2013. It was also the first to feature a new format with all twelve teams together in one venue over two days. The competition was held at Franklin's Gardens on 28 and 29 July 2017. The 2014 Premiership Rugby Sevens Series was the fifth Rugby Union 7-a-side competition for the twelve 2014–15 Aviva Premiership Clubs, and the first to include the four Welsh Regions that compete in the Pro12. The pool stage of the tournament will start on 26 July 2014, before continuing on 31 July - 2 August 2014. The final took place on 8 August 2014. Inclusion of Wales On 20 May 2014, it was announced that this season, the 4 Welsh regions - Cardiff Blues, Newport Gwent Dragons, Ospreys and Scarlets - would join the series. They would play in their own pool, hosted at the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park, and the top two regions would progress to contest the Series Final.
