Premier Volleyball League
The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is a women's professional volleyball league in the Philippines organized by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. The league began in 2004 as the Shakey's V-League, a women's collegiate league. Since 2011, the league became open to participation of corporate clubs and other non-collegiate teams. The Spikers' Turf has served as the men's counterpart of the league. History Shakey's V-League (2004–2016) The Premier Volleyball League was established in 2004 as the Shakey's V-League by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. led by Jun Bernardino, Ricky Palou, Moying Martelino, and Rhea Navarro who were businessmen previously known for being men's basketball patrons. The Shakey's V-League was initially an inter-collegiate women's league with teams from the UAAP, NCAA, CESAFI among others playing in the league. Roselyn Rosier
Roselyn Rosier (born September 10, 1998) is a Filipino volleyball player of the Lady Fighting Maroons volleyball team of the University of the Philippines in the UAAP. Career Rosier was a member of the U17 Philippines national women's volleyball team in 2014, that finished 7th among 13 teams in the 2014 Asian Youth Girls Volleyball Championship. It defeated Australia and India while losing to China in straight sets in the Group C stage. In the qualifying round, it lost to Thailand while winning against New Zealand in 4 sets. In the quarterfinals, it lost to South Korea. In the 5th–8th place playoffs, it lost to Kazakhstan in 5 sets. In the 7th place game, it won against New Zealand again. She joined the UP Lady Maroons for the UAAP Season 80 volleyball tournaments where they finished at 6th place. The Perlas Spikers, also previously known as the BanKo Perlas Spikers, are a professional women's volleyball team playing in the Premier Volleyball League. The Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors were a professional women's volleyball team that played in the Premier Volleyball League. The team was owned by Federated Distributors, Inc., exclusive distributors of Pocari Sweat in the Philippines. History The Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors debuted in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) in 2014 as the original Mane 'n Tail Lady Stallions. The following season, the team changed its name to the Philips Gold Lady Slammers, while a new team assumed the Mane 'n Tail name. On April 4, 2016, the team officially announced it will join the Shakey's V-League and play as the Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors. Beach Volleyball Republic, Inc. (BVR) is an organization aimed for the development and growth of beach volleyball in the Philippines formed in June 2015. History Co-founded by former Ateneo Lady Eagles volleybelles and current professional players Charo Soriano, Gretchen Ho, Fille Cainglet, Fille Cainglet-Cayetano, Dzi Gervacio and Bea Tan. Marck Jesus Paguirigan Espejo (born March 1, 1997) is a Filipino volleyball athlete currently playing for Incheon Korean Air Jumbos, his first stint in V-League (South Korea). He is a member of the Philippines men's national volleyball team and played collegiate volleyball with Ateneo de Manila University. Risa Sato
is a Filipino-Japanese volleyball player who is currently living in the Philippines and playing in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines for the NU Lady Bulldogs and in the Premier Volleyball League for the Creamline Cool Smashers. Early life Risa Sato was born on October 4, 1994 in Osaka, Japan where she also spent her childhood. Her mother is Filipino while her father is Japanese. Sato played volleyball at school in Japan. She left Japan at age 19 along with her mother to pursue her dream to play in the Philippines. Career Sato was brought to the Philippines in 2013 to play for the collegiate varsity team of the Ateneo de Manila University by Roger Gorayeb, who was then coach of the university.
