Ellen Preis
Ellen Müller-Preis, née Preis, (6 May 1912 – 18 November 2007) was German-born Austrian Olympic-champion foil (fencing), foil fencing, fencer. In 1949, she was named Austrian female athlete of the year. Fencing career Preis was born in Berlin, and was Jewish. She moved to Vienna at the age of 18 in 1930, and began receiving fencing instruction from her aunt. In under two years she came in third in the FIE World Championships in Fencing, European Championships in Vienna. She later married Dr. Müller and had two sons and a daughter, who died from whooping cough. World and National Championships She won three world championships (1947, 1949, and 1950) and numerous national Austrian titles (17). In 1949 Müller-Preis was named the first ever "Austrian Female Athlete of the Year." At one point, Prof. Müller-Preis was credited in the Guinness Book of World Records as the female with the longest Olympic span of any woman, competing from 1932 until 1956. Mary Louise Preis (born October 10, 1941) is an American politician who represented district 34 in the Maryland House of Delegates. She was first elected in 1990 and served until 1999. Early life and education Delegate Preis was born in Jacksonville, Illinois. Preis graduated from Fontbonne College with her associate degree in 1963 (cum laude), (Woodrow Wilson Fellow). She received her Master of Science degree (with distinction) in 1967 from Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. Phillip Wesley Preis Sr., known as Phil Preis (born April 18, 1950), is an attorney and former politician, based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who specializes in mergers and acquisitions. A native of Newellton in Tensas Parish in northeastern Louisiana, Preis is the son of Patricia M. Preis of Newellton and Edwin Gustav Preis Sr. (1916–2011), a former Newellton mayor, who was also from 1976 to 1977 the president of the Louisiana Municipal Association.
