Pre-Mediterranean Cup
The Pre-Mediterranean Cup was an association football friendly tournament competition hosted by the Hellenic Football Federation in Athens. In June 1991, the one and only Pre-Mediterranean cup was conducted in Georgios Kamaras Stadium, the home field of Apollon Smyrna, with the participation of the best-eight football clubs of 1990-91 greek Superleague. Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, PAOK and Iraklis forfeited the competition due to their players being tired from constant Superleague (known as A Ethniki at the time) games. In the semi-finals, AEK Athens played against Apollon Smyrnis and won 4-2, and OFI played against Athinaikos and won 1-0. In the final game of the competition, AEK Athens secured a 1-0 victory against OFI Crete to obtain the title, the only goal of the game was scored by Takis Karagiozopoulos from the penalty spot. Athinaikos A.C. ( el, Αθηναϊκός Α.Σ., full name Athinaikos Athletic Club) is a Greek multisport-club, founded in 1917. It is based in Vyronas, a suburb east of Athens. Athinaikos has football, basketball, and handball teams. Multi-sport Events In Greece
A multi-sport event is an organized sporting event, often held over multiple days, featuring competition in many different sports among organized teams of athletes from (mostly) nation-states. 1991 Mediterranean Games
The XI Mediterranean Games, commonly known as the 1991 Mediterranean Games, were the 11th Mediterranean Games. The Games were held in Athens, Greece, from 28 June to 12 July 1991, where 2,762 athletes (2,176 men and 586 women) from 18 countries participated. Rizoupoli
Rizoupoli ( el, Ριζούπολη ) is a neighborhood of Nea Filadelfeia-Chalkidona, Greece. It is the northernmost neighborhood of municipality along with the small district Probonas. The district is located between Patissia and Nea Philadelphia and is home to the Georgios Kamaras Stadium. History Rizoupoli is named after Ioannis Rizopoulos, a businessman and land developer of the early 20th century. Rizopoulos's historic mansion stood in the area until 2002, when the Greek government agreed for its demolition. After the Asia Minor Catastrophe many refugees from Ionia and other places of Asia Minor settled in Rizoupoli. Eastern European Summer Time (EEST) is one of the names of the UTC+03:00 time zone, which is 3 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. It is used as a summer daylight saving time in some European and Middle Eastern countries, which makes it the same as Arabia Standard Time, East Africa Time, and Moscow Time. Takis Karagiozopoulos
Dimitris "Takis" Karagiozopoulos ( el, Τάκης Καραγκιοζόπουλος; born 4 February 1961) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as defender, mostly for AEK Athens. He is famous and beloved to AEK fans for his 12-year presence and for scoring the historic "golden" goal against Olympiacos on 7 May 1989, giving the Championship to AEK after 10 whole years. Club career Karagiozopoulos started playing football for Filippos Melikis and in 1978 he was transferred to Veria, where he played in the position of striker. In 1981 he signed for AEK Athens, playing in the attack for the first two years, until the then coach of AEK, the late Zlatko Čajkovski converted him to the position of defender, after his serious injury Petros Ravousis.
