Prayin' (Johnny Logan Song)
"Prayin'" is a song written by Alan Earls from Greystones, County Wicklow and recorded by Australian-born Irish singer and composer Johnny Logan. The song was released in association with RTÉ's music entertainment series The Hit. The song peaked at number 3 on the Irish charts and number 1 on the Irish rock chart. Following the chart position, Logan spoke to the Irish Independent saying "For a person who has been around as long as I have, this is incredible. Johnny Logan (singer)
Seán Patrick Michael Sherrard (born 13 May 1954), better known by his stage name Johnny Logan, is an Irish singer and composer. He is known as being the only performer to have won the Eurovision Song Contest twice, in Eurovision Song Contest 1980, 1980 and Eurovision Song Contest 1987, 1987. He also composed the winning song in Eurovision Song Contest 1992, 1992. Logan first won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1980, with the song "What's Another Year" written by Shay Healy. In Eurovision Song Contest 1984, 1984, Logan composed the song "Terminal 3 (song), Terminal 3" which placed second at Eurovision, performed by Linda Martin. Greystones
Greystones () is a coastal town and seaside resort in County Wicklow, Ireland. It lies on Ireland's east coast, south of Bray, County Wicklow, Bray and south of Dublin city centre and has a population of 18,140 (2016). The town is bordered by the Irish Sea to the east, Bray Head to the north and the Wicklow Mountains to the west. It is the second biggest town in County Wicklow (after Bray, County Wicklow, Bray). The town was named after a half-mile or one-kilometre stretch of grey stones between two beaches on the seafront. The Hit (Irish TV Series)
The Hit is an Irish talent show series that began airing on 26 July 2013 on RTÉ One and sees songwriters showcasing their songs to established artists. The artists then battle one another to find the perfect song they can turn into a hit. It was hosted by Aidan Power and Nicky Byrne. A pilot episode was aired in September 2012 on RTÉ Two hosted by Laura Whitmore. On 15 March 2013, RTÉ announced that the show had been ordered for a full series to be broadcast in the summer. On 30 August 2013, Finbar Furey was announced the winner of the series, with the song "The Last Great Love Song". Gerry Fleming, the song's songwriter, won the €20,000 prize. The show wasn't as successful as ''The Voice of Ireland'' and was cancelled after one series.
