picture info	Maharana Pratap Pratap Singh I, popularly known as Maharana Pratap (c. 9 May 1540 – 19 January 1597), was a king of Mewar from the Sisodia dynasty. Pratap became a folk hero for his military resistance against the expansionism of the Mughal Empire under Akbar through guerrilla warfare which proved inspirational for later rebels against Mughals including Shivaji. He represented Rajampet in the Lok Sabha from 1989 until 1999 and again from 2004 until 2014. During his last term, he served as Minister of State for Steel for almost two years and Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises for six months in the second Manmohan Singh ministry. 	Prathapa Mudaliar Charithram ''Prathapa Mudaliar Charithram'' ( en, The Life of Prathapa Mudaliar), written in 1857 and published in 1879, was the first novel in the Tamil language. Penned by Samuel Vedanayagam Pillai (1826-1889), it was a landmark in Tamil literature, which had hitherto seen writings only in poetry. The book gave birth to a new literary genre and Tamil prose began to be recognized as an increasingly important part of the language.
