Prasanta Sinha
Prasanta Sinha was an Indian association football player who represented India internationally, and played club football for East Bengal. Playing career He was part of the India national team that finished as runners-up at the 1964 AFC Asian Cup in Israel. He won the gold medal with the Indian team managed by Syed Abdul Rahim, at the 1962 Asian Games football final, defeating South Korea 2–1. In club football, he played for East Bengal FC, where he won Calcutta Football League once and IFA Shield three times. Bengal Presidency
The Bengal Presidency, officially the Presidency of Fort William and later Bengal Province, was a subdivision of the British Empire in India. At the height of its territorial jurisdiction, it covered large parts of what is now South Asia and Southeast Asia. Bengal proper covered the ethno-linguistic region of Bengal (present-day Bangladesh and the Indian state of West Bengal). Calcutta, the city which grew around Fort William, was the capital of the Bengal Presidency. East Bengal Club Season Awards
The East Bengal Club Season Awards are the official East Bengal awards presented on 1 August to various recipients in the Foundation Day celebrations of the club. The Inaugural award was handed out in 2011 which had three categories the highlight 'Bharat Gourav Award', the 'Lifetime Achievement Award' and the 'Player of the Season Award'. Awards ceremony East Bengal Club was founded on 1 August 1920 and every year on this day, the club celebrates its Foundation Day. ''Anandabazar Patrika'' (Bengali: আনন্দবাজার পত্রিকা, ) is an Indian Bengali-language daily newspaper owned by the ABP Group. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, it has a circulation of 1 million copies as of December 2019. Its main competitors are ''Bartaman'', ''Ei Samay'', and ''Sangbad Pratidin''. History A Bengali newspaper was published in 1876 in a small village of Magura at Jessore District in British India (now Bangladesh) by Tushar Kanti Ghosh and his father Sisir Kumar Ghosh. Merdeka Tournament or Pestabola Merdeka is a friendly football tournament held in Malaysia to commemorate the Independence Day. The competition bears the Malay word for independence. As of 2022, it has been held 40 times, and decreasingly in recent decades. Matches in Merdeka tournament considered International "A" matches (Friendly match) by FIFA. Its final has been mainly held at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.
