Pramod Kumar Julka
Pramod Kumar Julka, is an Indian cancer specialist (oncologist), medical educationist and writer, known for performing the first peripheral blood stem cell transplant following high dose chemotherapy in Metastatic Breast Cancer in India. He was honoured by the Government of India, in 2013, by bestowing on him the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for his contributions to the fields of medicine and medical education. The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) has awarded him by bestowing on him the honorary membership. Biography Pramod Kumar Julka, a Delhiite, graduated in medicine and did MD in Radiotherapy from the Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, in 1979. He has also had higher training at the M. D. Padma Shri (IAST: ''padma śrī''), also spelled Padma Shree, is the fourth-highest Indian honours system, civilian award of the Republic of India, after the Bharat Ratna, the Padma Vibhushan and the Padma Bhushan. DD News
DD News is an Indian news channel of Doordarshan, it is India's only 24-hour terrestrial TV news channel broadcasting solely in Hindi, and formerly in English. The Prasar Bharati Board approved the proposal to start a 24-hour news channel in place of DD Metro, which was closing. This was subsequently approved by the Union Cabinet in a meeting held on 3 October 2003. DD Metro was converted into a 24-hour TV news channel, into DD News, which launched on 3 November 2003. Its terrestrial reach is 21.6% by area and 44.9% by population of India. In 2019, international sister channel DD India become exclusive channel for English News and Current Affairs from Doordarshan. After that parent body Prasar Bharati's CEO claimed that DD News will be "100% Hindi soon", but is yet to be implemented because of availability of content to be aired. It was established in 1928 as the All India Medical Association, and was renamed the Indian Medical Association in 1930. It is a society registered under The Societies Act of India. Background The Indian Medical Association has approximately 350,000 member doctors in 1,700 active local branches in 29 states and union territories in India. It is the largest association of medical doctors in India. Previously stationed out of Calcutta, the IMA is headquartered in New Delhi.
