350px, Praisaniyakarn seen from middle of Chao Phraya River Praisaniyakarn, written as Praisaneeyakan ( th, ไปรษณียาคาร; lit: ''Post Office Building'') is the original location of the Post Department, which was Thailand’s first postal office. The office stood on the eastern bank of Chao Phraya River, at the mouth of Khlong Ong Ang (Ong Ang Canal) in Phra Nakhon side near the area of Pak Khlong Talat, right on the south of Memorial Bridge. It is a three-storey striking white Western-style building. Previously being spelled in Thai in another way, "Praisaniyakarn" (ไปรสะนียาคาร) building was built in 1871 as the residence of Phra Preecha Kolakan (Samang Amatayakul), the former governor of Prachinburi, eastern Siam (former name of Thailand) who was later charged with treason for the corruption in the operation of a gold mine in Kabin Buri. Lieutenant General Prayoon Pamornmontri ( th, ประยูร ภมรมนตรี) was a Thai soldier, politician, and member of ''Khana Ratsadon'' (People's Party). He participated in the Siamese Revolution of 1932 to promote democracy by overthrowing the absolute monarchy. Biography Prayoon Thai father was Major Yam Pamornmontri; his mother was a German physician. She taught German to many Siamese cadets in the German Empire at the time, many of whom later became members of the Khana Ratsadon. Prayoon, as a child, served as a royal page to King Vajiravudh (Rama VI). When he grew up, he was appointed a royal guard. He resigned to study political science in Paris. The General Post Office ( th, อาคารไปรษณีย์กลาง, , ), also known as the Grand Postal Building, is a historic building in the Bang Rak District of Bangkok. Opened on 24 June 1940 on the former site of the British Legation, it was designed by architects Sarot Sukkhayang and Mew Aphaiwong in a mixture of Art Deco and International Style architecture which reflected the desire of the ruling People's Party to project a modern and powerful image of the state. In 2017, the building was converted for use as the new headquarters of the Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC). Phra Pok Klao Bridge ( th, สะพานพระปกเกล้า, , ) is a bridge crossing the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, Thailand. It serves to connect the two sides of the Chao Phraya River in the Bangkok area, namely Phra Nakhon District's Wang Burapha Phirom and Samphanthawong District's Chakkrawat with Khlong San District's Somdet Chao Phraya as well as Thonburi District's Wat Kanlaya. History Phra Pok Klao Bridge was built in 1982 on the 200th anniversary of Rattanakosin or Bangkok nowadays. The bridge was designed to alleviate traffic congestion on the adjacent Memorial Bridge. The Bang Khun Phrom Palace ( th, วังบางขุนพรหม) is a former royal residence in Bangkok, Thailand. It served as the residence of Prince Paribatra Sukhumbandhu until his forced exile following the Siamese revolution of 1932. The palace is located on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River, on Samsen Road, Phra Nakhon District. It consists of two main buildings, the road-facing Tamnak Yai (main residence) and the river-facing Tamnak Somdet (residence of Queen Sukhumala Marasri, who was mother of the Prince). The main residence, designed by Mario Tamagno in neo-Baroque/Rococo style, was built in 1901–1902, while the Queen's residence was built around 1913 to designs by Karl Döhring in the Jugendstil or German Art Nouveau style. Khuang Aphaiwong (also spelled ''Kuang'', ''Abhaiwong'', or ''Abhaiwongse''; th, ควง อภัยวงศ์, ; 17 May 1902 – 15 March 1968), also known by his noble title Luang (title), Luang Kowit-aphaiwong ( th, หลวงโกวิทอภัยวงศ์, ), was three times the prime minister of Thailand: from August 1944 to 1945, from January to May 1946, and from November 1947 to April 1948.
