Paralympic Powerlifting
Paralympic powerlifting, also known as para powerlifting and para-lifting, is an adaptation of the sport of powerlifting for athletes with disabilities. The only discipline in Paralympic powerlifting is the bench press. The sport is governed by the International Paralympic Committee (World Para Powerlifting) and is open to anyone with a minimum level of disability who can extend their arms within 20° of full extension during a lift. 2015 ASEAN Para Games
The 2015 ASEAN Para Games, officially known as the 8th ASEAN Para Games, and commonly known as Singapore 2015, was a Southeast Asian disabled multi-sport event held from 3 to 9 December 2015 in the city-state of Singapore. Unlike the previous editions the games were held six months after the closing of the 2015 Southeast Asian Games. This was Singapore's first time as host of the ASEAN Para Games. Around 1811 athletes participated at the Games, which featured 336 events in 15 sports. Singapore is the seventh nation to host the event after Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar. It was opened by Tony Tan Keng Yam, the President of Singapore at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The final medal tally was led by Thailand, followed by Indonesia and Malaysia with host Singapore in fifth place. Jong Yee Khie
Jong Yee Khie (; born 19 November 1988) is a Malaysian powerlifter. He won a silver medal for Malaysia at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, Malaysia in powerlifting in the men's -107 kg event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo. Early and personal life Jong hails from Batu Kawa, Kuching Division, Kuching, Sarawak and worked as a hairdresser. He had his right leg amputated above the knee after being involved in a motorcycle accident in 2005. Jong was encouraged to take up the sport by his family during his recovery in 2008. Ni Nengah Widiasih
Ni Nengah Widiasih (born 12 December 1992) is an Indonesian powerlifter. She competed in the 2012 Summer Paralympics, 2016 Summer Paralympics and 2020 Summer Paralympics. Career Widiasih was born and raised in Karangasem, Bali. She lost use of her legs at age four and began using a wheelchair. When she was in the sixth grade she began living at the dormitory run by the Disabled Children's Counselling Foundation (). Her daily expenses were handled by the foundation, and, beginning in middle school, her education was paid for through scholarships. , she is in the second year of senior high school. At the suggestion of her brother, fellow weightlifter I Gede Suantaka, Widiasih took up weightlifting. She began practising four to five times weekly. In 2008, she won a bronze medal at the ASEAN ParaGames in Nakhon Ratchasima, while the following year she received a silver medal at the Games in Kuala Lumpur.
