Power Voters
The Power Voters was a pro-democratic political group in Hong Kong. The core members formed the radical party People Power in early 2011 and became one of its branches. Its major aims were to punish the largest pro-democratic party Democratic Party which did not participate in the resignation as referendum campaign launched by Civic Party and League of Social Democrats to press Beijing for universal suffrage in Hong Kong, and negotiated with the Central Government for the reformed constitutional reform package in mid-2010. 11 Power Voters members who were also affiliated themselves with People Power participated in the 2011 District Council elections, most of them chose to contest with the Democratic Party candidates. Sheung Wan
Sheung Wan is an area in Hong Kong, located in the north-west of Hong Kong Island, between Central and Sai Ying Pun. Administratively, it is part of the Central and Western District. The name can be variously interpreted as ''Upper District'' (occupying relatively high ground compared to Central and Wan Chai), or ''Gateway District'' (perhaps a reference to the location where the British first entered and occupied Hong Kong). History Sheung Wan was one of the earliest settled places by the British, and belonged to the historical Victoria City. The site of the original occupation of Hong Kong Island by British forces in 1842 was at Possession Street, between Queen's Road Central and Hollywood Road. A plaque to this effect can be found in Hollywood Road Park at the top of Possession Street. League Of Social Democrats
The League of Social Democrats (LSD) is a social democratic party in Hong Kong. Chaired by Chan Po-ying, wife of Leung Kwok-hung, it positions itself as the radical wing of the pro-democracy camp (Hong Kong), pro-democracy camp and stresses on "street actions" and "parliamentary struggles". It currently holds two seats in the District councils of Hong Kong, District Councils. Erica Yuen
Erica Yuen Mi-ming (, born ) is a Hong Kong politician, actress, and presenter. A former Miss Hong Kong pageant participant, she was the chairperson of the People Power political party between 2013 and 2016. Early life Erica Yuen graduated from St. Stephen's College in 1997, and continued her education at Tufts University in Massachusetts, and graduated summa cum laude. Pageantry In 2005, Yuen participated in the Miss Hong Kong pageant where she was awarded the title of Tourism Ambassador and was named one of the top five finalists on the final night. Christopher Lau Gar-hung (born 8 February 1976 in Hong Kong; ) was the chairman of People Power political party in Hong Kong. He is a presenter for Hong Kong People Reporter and MyRadio. He ran for office in the 2012 Hong Kong legislative election. Background Lau studied in Diocesan Boys' School for secondary school and graduated from Chinese University of Hong Kong with a degree in Mathematics. Raymond Chan Chi-chuen
Raymond Chan Chi-chuen (born 16 April 1972 in Hong Kong, ), also called Slow Beat () in his radio career, is a former member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (representing the New Territories East constituency), presenter and former chief executive officer of Hong Kong Reporter. Chan is the first openly gay legislator in Hong Kong and East Asia. He resigned from the Legislative Council on 28 September 2020, citing that he would not serve in an "appointed legislature" after Beijing had extended the legislators' terms by a year. Chan, along with most other pro-democracy politicians in Hong Kong, is currently imprisoned. The Civic Party (CP) is a pro-democracy liberal political party in Hong Kong. It is currently chaired by barrister Alan Leong. The party was formed in 2006 on the basis of the Basic Law Article 45 Concern Group, which was derived from the Basic Law Article 23 Concern Group that rooted in its opposition to the proposed legislation of the Article 23 of the Basic Law of Hong Kong.
