''Power Metal'' is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Pantera, released June 24, 1988, through Metal Magic Records. Strong, Martin C. ''The Great Rock Discography''. Random House. It is the first Pantera album to feature Phil Anselmo on lead vocals, as part of a line-up which would last until the band's official split in 2003, and their last album before shifting to a heavier sound with ''Cowboys from Hell''. Overview Phil Anselmo makes his first appearance on vocals, having replaced original singer Terry Glaze. Guitarist Dimebag Darrell (then credited as "Diamond Darrell") also performs vocals on "P*S*T*88". "Proud to Be Loud" was written and produced by Keel guitarist Marc Ferrari and was originally intended to appear on their 1987 self-titled album; however, Keel would not record their own version until '' Keel VI: Back in Action'' in 1998. Pantera () is an American heavy metal music, heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas formed in 1981, and currently comprised of vocalist Phil Anselmo, bassist Rex Brown, and touring musicians Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante. The group's best-known lineup consisted of drummer Vinnie Paul and guitarist Dimebag Darrell, along with Brown and Anselmo, who joined in 1982 and 1986 respectively. ''Keel'' is the fourth album by the American glam metal band Keel, released on June 21, 1987. This was the last album to feature guitarists Marc Ferrari and Bryan Jay, as they left the band a year later (although Jay can be heard on the live portion of the band's next release, '' Larger Than Live''.) They eventually re-joined Keel in 1998 to release '' Keel VI: Back in Action'' and again in 2009 for the band's 25th anniversary. Rex Brown
Rex Robert Brown (born July 27, 1964) is an American musician. He is best known as the bassist for heavy metal band Pantera, from 1982 to their disbandment in 2003. As of their reunion in 2022, he is the band's only constant member. Brown is also a former member of the supergroup Down (2001–2011) and the former bassist for Kill Devil Hill. He released his debut solo album '' Smoke on This…'' in 2017. For the first time in Brown's career, the work features him not only as a bassist but also as lead vocalist and guitarist. Vincent Paul Abbott (March 11, 1964 – June 22, 2018) was an American musician best known for being the drummer and co-founder of the heavy metal band Pantera. He also co-founded Damageplan in 2003 with his younger brother, 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott, and was a member of Hellyeah for 12 years from 2006 until his death in 2018.
