Powder River County District High School
Powder River County District High School (PRCDHS) is the only high school in Powder River County, Montana, in the United States and is located in Broadus, the only incorporated town in that county. Academics As of November 1, 2014, the Powder River County District High School had 135 enrolled students, coming from four counties ( Powder River, Rosebud, Carter, and Custer) in Southeastern Montana, and some from Crook County in Wyoming. Ashland, Montana
Ashland is a census-designated place (CDP) in Rosebud County, Montana, United States. The population was 464 at the 2000 census. Ashland is immediately east of the boundary of the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation and also along the Tongue River. It is the location of the St. Labre Indian Catholic High School, established in 1884 as a boarding school by a Catholic mission to the Cheyenne. The town was established in 1881 and called Straders after the first postmaster. The name was changed to Ashland in 1886. Geography Ashland is located at (45.607457, -106.286284). Volborg is an unincorporated community in Custer County, Montana, United States. It is located south of Miles City, and is also the home of two-time PBR World Champion Jess Lockwood. Climate According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Volborg has a semi-arid climate, abbreviated "BSk" on climate maps. History The town consists of an elementary school, post office, store with gas pumps, two homes and a few small outbuildings. The town was founded by Charlie M. Allen and is named for his first wife Theoline (Tillie) Volborg Osmenson Allen. Powderville, also Elkhorn Crossing is an unincorporated community in northeastern Powder River County, Montana, United States, along the Powder River. It is a small cluster of buildings that lies along local roads northeast of the town of Broadus, the county seat of Powder River County. Its elevation is 2,828 feet (862 m). History On September 7, 1865, the right and middle columns of the Powder River Expedition crossed the future site of Powderville while traveling south upriver. That evening, the columns camped several miles to the south and buried three soldiers who had died during the day. The Powder River Telegraph Station was a U.S. Army telegraph repair station that existed from 1878 until 1883 along the Powder River in southeastern Montana Territory. Hammond, Montana
Hammond is an unincorporated community in Carter County, Montana, United States. It is located approximately southeast of the town of Broadus along U.S. Highway 212. Its elevation is 3,711 feet. The town began with a store and gas station during the construction of US 212 in the 1930s. In the 21st century, Hammond has consisted only of an active post office and a rancher's home. Three other buildings along the highway are abandoned and deteriorated beyond use. Hammond is located in the southeast corner of the state, near the Montana-Wyoming border between the unincorporated communities of Boyes and Alzada in Carter County. Biddle, Montana
Biddle is a village in southeastern Powder River County, Montana, United States, near the Little Powder River. It lies along Highway 59, south of the town of Broadus, the county seat of Powder River County. The post office was established in 1916 with Charles Schofield as postmaster. It was later taken over by Roland Rumph and in 2010 the post office was built and currently ran by USPS. The town name came from S. F. B.
