Potturi Vijayalakshmi
Potturi Vijayalakshmi (తెలుగు:పొత్తూరి విజయలక్ష్మి) is a Telugu writer well known for her humorous short stories. Biography Potturi Vijayalakshmi was born in Yajali village in Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh to Ms. Valluri Satyavaani and Mr. Valluri Venkata Krishna Murthy. She married Mr. P V Siva Rao in 1970 and has two children Sireesha and Praveen Kumar. She currently lives in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh with her family. Vijayalakshmi penned around 250 short stories and 14 novels in Telugu language. Her first novel, "Premalekha", was made into a movie directed by Jandhyala. She also worked at All India Radio. She is well known for her humorous short stories which appeared in many Telugu weeklies like Eenadu Aadivaaram, Chatura and Andhra Jyothi, to name a few. Guntur District
Guntur district is one of the twenty six districts in the Coastal Andhra region of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The administrative seat of the district is located at Guntur, the largest city of the district in terms of area and with a population of 670,073. Potti Sreeramulu (IAST: ''Poṭṭi Śreerāmulu''; 16 March 1901 – 15 December 1952), was an Indian freedom fighter and revolutionary. Sreeramulu is revered as ''Amarajeevi'' ("Immortal Being") in the Andhra region for his self-sacrifice for the Andhra cause. He became famous for undertaking a hunger strike for 56 days in support of having separate state for Andhra Pradesh; he died in the process. His death sparked public rioting and Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru declared the intent by the newly liberated nation to form Andhra State three days following the death of Sreeramulu. He contributed his life for the formation of a separate Telugu-speaking state from the dominant Tamil-speaking state of Tamil Nadu presidency. ''Andhra Jyothi'' () is the third largest circulated Telugu language daily newspaper of India sold mostly in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It was founded by K. L. N.
