The Lago Potrero de los Funes circuit is an Argentine motorsports race track originally constructed in 1987, and rebuilt in 2008. It is located from San Luis, capital city of the San Luis Province, Argentina. The circuit is semi-permanent, with a length of . It was created by modifying the ring road that encircles Lake Potrero de los Funes, at the course's center. The circuit has received very high praise from the drivers for its substantial undulations and numerous high speed corners and bends, which provide a great driving challenge. The track's layout has changed slightly from its original layout. It appears that the curve prior to where the pits are now was tightened to create a more pronounced corner ahead of the pits, and perhaps to reduce speeds on the racing line going past the new pit exit. Lake Potrero de los Funes (''Embalse Potrero de los Funes'') is a reservoir 18 km (11 mi) northeast of San Luis, Argentina. Overview The site, originally located in a corral belonging to the prominent Funes family of San Luis, was first dammed in 1860. The original levee, one of the first of its kind in South America, was destroyed by the torrential flooding common to riverbanks in the Dry Pampas region, and was rebuilt in 1876. The present reservoir, planned for the growing water supply needs of the nearby provincial capital, was inaugurated in 1927. Gabriel Ponce de León (born 14 March 1979 in Junín, Buenos Aires) is an Argentine racing driver. He has run in different series, with major success in Turismo Carretera and TC 2000. He won the Formula Renault Argentina championship in 1998. He debuted in the TC 2000 championship the following year in the Ford YPF team of Oreste Berta. Win three titules, in 2001, 2003 and 2005. Anthony Kumpen (born 3 November 1978) is a Belgian professional racing driver and team manager. Kumpen currently works as the team manager for PK Carsport in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. 2008 FIA GT Championship Season
The 2008 FIA GT Championship season was the twelfth season of the FIA GT Championship. It featured a series for Grand Touring style cars broken into two classes based on power and manufacturer involvement, called GT1 and GT2. Invitational G2 and G3 classes were also allowed to participate but cars in these classes were not eligible to score points. The Championship began on 20 April 2008 and ended on 23 November 2008 after 10 rounds. Schedule The official 2008 calendar was released by the FIA on 24 October 2007. The TC2000 (''Turismo Competición 2000'', formerly ''Súper TC2000'') is a touring car racing series held in Argentina since 1979. Rules Prior to 2012, engines of up to were allowed, with only limited modifications from standard engines. This was both to reduce running costs, and give a level playing field to every team. Variable valve timing, variable intake geometry, anti-lock braking systems and traction control are all forbidden.
