Potenza S.C.
Potenza Sport Club S.r.l. was an Italian football club, based in Potenza, Basilicata. The club was re-founded in 2004 as A.S. Calcio Potenza, (legal suffix S.r.l. was added circa 2005) after the merger of the old A.S.C. Potenza (founded in 1983) and F.C. Potenza (founded in 1919 and previously known as Potenza S.C.), and changed its name to Potenza S.C. in 2006. The club was expelled from 2009–10 Lega Pro Prima Divisione in mid-season. History Potenza was promoted in Serie C1 on 18 June 2007 by beating Benevento over two games in the 2006–07 Serie C2 promotion playoffs. Lega Pro Prima Divisione was the third highest football league in Italy. It consisted of 33 teams, divided geographically into two divisions of 16 and 17 teams for group A and B respectively. Until 2008 it was known as Serie C1. Before the 1978–79 season there were only three leagues of professional football in Italy, the third being Serie C. In 1978, it was decided to split Serie C into Serie C1 and Serie C2. Francesco Colonnese (born 10 August 1971) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a full-back. Club career Born in Potenza, Colonnese began his career in Potenza - where he played from 1989 to 1991 – before moving first to Giarre Football and then to Cremonese, where he made 66 appearances. Roberto Boninsegna ( born 13 November 1943) is an Italian former football player, who mainly played as a forward. After retiring, he worked as a football manager. As a player, he represented the Italian national side at two World Cups, reaching the final in 1970. Club career Born at Mantua, Boninsegna started his career in Serie B (the second tier of Italian professional football) with Prato in 1963–64 season. Aldo Agroppi (; born 14 April 1944) is a professional Italian football coach and a former footballer, who played as a midfielder. The Eccellenza (, "excellence") is the fifth level (since 2014–15) of Italian football. It is a regional league, composed of 28 divisions divided geographically. All 20 regions are represented by at least one division except for Piedmont and Aosta Valley which share 2 divisions. Veneto, Tuscany, Sicily, Emilia-Romagna and Campania also have 2 divisions each, while the regions of Lombardy and Lazio have 3 divisions. Lega Pro Seconda Divisione was the fourth highest football league in Italy, the lowest with a professional status. Usually it consisted of 36 teams, but in the 2011–12 season, there were 41 teams divided geographically into two divisions of 20 and 21.
