Poststadion
The Poststadion is a multi-use stadium in the locality of Moabit of the borough of Mitte in Berlin, Germany. The stadium was built in 1929 for the sports club of the German Reichspost at the site of a former Prussian Uhlan parade ground. It is adjacent to the Fritz Schloß Park. The stadium is a designated landmark since 1990. The facility fell into disrepair during the 1980s and several attempts to renovate the stadium failed in the following decades. The first renovations was carried out in 2003. Its original architecture has been conserved in the original structures of the main entrance in the Lehrter Strasse, with its rows of ticket booths lining the entrance. The main stand of the stadium was renovated in 2010. The stadium was equipped with floodlights in 2021. Football at the 1936 Summer Olympics was won by Italy. After the introduction of the first FIFA World Cup in 1930 (which had, in itself led to the absence of a football tournament from the 1932 Games programme), competing nations would from now on only be permitted to play their best players if those players were amateur or (where national associations were assisted by interested states to traverse such a rule) where professional players were state-sponsored. However, since amateur players were counted as senior squad players, their results would be still counted as senior side's results until 1992. Fritz Schloß Park
Fritz Schloß Park is a park in Berlin in the district of Moabit, located in the borough of Mitte. Location The park is located adjacent to the Poststadion between Rathenower Straße, Kruppstraße, Seydlitzstraße, and Lehrter Straße. The location was previously used as a military drill ground, and is today surrounded by residential and commercial spaces situated in former barracks. With a size of roughly 12 hectares, the park is the largest in Moabit. History After World War II, the military grounds were used as a dumping ground for debris from allied bombing, which in 1955 was covered in dirt by landscape architect Wilhelm Alverdes to form a Schuttberg which is located within the park. The park was named after Fritz Schloß (1895–1954), who was the mayor of the former district of Berlin-Tiergarten (since 2001 district Mitte) from 1946–52, which encompassed Moabit. Berliner AK 07 is a German football club based in the locality of Moabit of the borough of Mitte in Berlin, Germany. The team competes in the fourth tier Regionalliga Nordost. The 1936 Summer Olympics (German: ''Olympische Sommerspiele 1936''), officially known as the Games of the XI Olympiad (German: ''Spiele der XI. Olympiade'') and commonly known as Berlin 1936 or the Nazi Olympics, were an international multi-sport event held from 1 to 16 August 1936 in Berlin, Germany. Berlin won the bid to host the Games over Barcelona at the 29th IOC Session on 26 April 1931. The 1936 Games marked the second and most recent time the International Olympic Committee gathered to vote in a city that was bidding to host those Games. Later rule modifications forbade cities hosting the bid vote from being awarded the games. Sport-Club Union 06 Berlin e.V. is a Football in Germany, German association football club based in central Berlin. Like namesake 1. FC Union Berlin, the club traces its origin back to the ''FC Olympia Oberschöneweide'', formed in 1906, but the current ''SC Union'' was formed in June 1950. Max Schmeling
Maximilian Adolph Otto Siegfried Schmeling (, ; 28 September 1905 – 2 February 2005) was a German boxing, boxer who was heavyweight champion of the world between 1930 and 1932. His two fights with Joe Louis in 1936 and 1938 were worldwide cultural events because of their national associations. Schmeling is the only boxer to win the world heavyweight championship on a foul. Starting his professional career in 1924, Schmeling went to the United States in 1928 and, after a ninth-round technical knockout of Johnny Risko, became a sensation. He became the first to win the heavyweight championship (at that time vacant) by disqualification in 1930, after opponent Jack Sharkey knocked him down with a low blow in the fourth round. Paulino Uzcudun Eizmendi (3 May 1899 – 5 July 1985) was a Spanish heavyweight boxer, who is considered to be the greatest heavyweight from Spain. Uzkudun is the Basque spelling of his last name. He was the youngest of nine siblings. In his youth, he became an aizkolari or traditional competitive Basque wood chopper. Uzcudun, known as ''Paulino'' in the United States, was the European heavyweight champion, and he fought heavyweight champions Joe Louis, Max Baer, Max Schmeling (three times) and Primo Carnera (twice) during his career. Moabit () is an inner city locality in the borough of Mitte, Berlin, Germany. As of 2016, around 77,000 people lived in Moabit. First inhabited in 1685 and incorporated into Berlin in 1861, the former industrial and working-class neighbourhood is fully surrounded by three watercourses, which define its present-day border. Between 1945 and 1990, Moabit was part of the British sector of West Berlin and directly bordered East Berlin. Until the administrative reform in 2001, Moabit was a part of the district of Tiergarten. Deutsches Stadion (Berlin)
Deutsches Stadion was a multi-use sports stadium in Berlin, Germany. It was located at Deutsches Sportforum in the present-day Westend quarter on the northern rim of the large Grunewald forest. Built according to plans designed by Otto March, it was opened on 8 June 1913, on the occasion of Emperor Wilhelm's II silver jubilee, due to host the 1916 Summer Olympics that were cancelled after the outbreak of World War I.
