Nicolaas Wilhelmus Posthumus or N.W. Posthumus (26 February 1880 in Amsterdam – 18 April 1960 in Bussum) was a Dutch economic historian, political scientist, and professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Posthumus was one of the founders of both the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam and the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Amsterdam. Biography Posthumus was born as the son of geography teacher Nicolaas Wilhelmus Posthumus and Huibertje IJzerman. He graduated high school and began studying at the University of Amsterdam in 1898. From March to October 1901, he was editor of the satirical student magazine Propria Cures. Richard Posthumus (; born July 19, 1950) is an American businessman, and politician. He was the 61st Lieutenant Governor of Michigan and majority leader of the Michigan Senate. In 2002, he was the unsuccessful Republican nominee for Governor of Michigan. Posthumus grew up on a dairy farm in Alto, Michigan, outside of Grand Rapids. He graduated from Michigan State University, during which he served as chairman of the College Republicans and as a vice chairman of the Michigan Republican Party. In 1971, he managed the successful Michigan House of Representatives campaign of fellow student and future Michigan governor John Engler. Willemijn Posthumus-van der Goot (2 May 1897 – 16 January 1989) was a Dutch economist, feminist and radio broadcaster. As the first woman to attain a doctorate in economics in the Netherlands, her work focused on the impact of working women on the economy. Recognizing that there were few sources, she joined with other feminists to create the International Archives for the Women's Movement in 1935. Writing reports on women's work, she refuted government claims that women working outside the home was of no benefit. First proposed in 1939, the Household Council, which she saw as an organization to foster training and organize domestic laborers was instituted in 1950. Kees Posthumus (16 June 1902 – 15 September 1972) was a Dutch chemist. He was the second rector magnificus of the Eindhoven University of Technology. Biography Kees Posthumus was born in Harlingen, Friesland, as the son of a wholesaler in wood. He attended HBS and then went on to study chemistry at the University of Groningen. He attained his propaedeuse there, whereupon he moved to the University of Leiden to continue his studies. While there he came into contact with Albert Einstein (who was a guest lecturer there) and with Johan Huizinga (through the rowing club). Upon gaining his engineering degree he took a teaching position at the Christian HBS in Leiden, while working on his doctorate under prof.dr. F.A.. Schreinemakers.
