Barge
Barge nowadays generally refers to a flat-bottomed inland waterway vessel which does not have its own means of mechanical propulsion. The first modern barges were pulled by tugs, but nowadays most are pushed by pusher boats, or other vessels. The term barge has a rich history, and therefore there are many other types of barges. Mazagon Dock Limited
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) (IAST: ''Majhagānv Dawk Limiṭeḍ''), formerly called Mazagon Dock Limited, is a shipyard situated in Mazagaon, Mumbai. It manufactures warships and submarines for the Indian Navy and offshore platforms and associated support vessels for offshore oil drilling. It also builds tankers, cargo bulk carriers, passenger ships and ferries. MDL is a public sector undertaking managed by the Ministry of Defence, with the Government of India holding an 84.83% stake. INS ''Poshak'' is a self-propelled fuel carrier barge built by M/s Shalimar Works, Kolkata for the Indian Navy. Description It is an auxiliary ship capable to carry 500 tonnes of fuel. It has seagoing capabilities and have all essential communication and navigation equipment. The vessel is classed under IRS (No: 39518) with Class notation : +SUL, for carriage of oil with flash point above 60 Degree. INS ''Poshak'' is named after a previous auxiliary vessel of same name which served the Indian Navy. It was delivered to the Indian Navy on 18 June 2012.
