Portland Eagles
The Portland Eagles were a minor league professional hockey team located in Portland, Oregon. They were known as the Portland Penguins for one season. History The Eagles competed in the Pacific Coast Hockey League from 1944 until the team's final season in 1951. In the Eagles' inaugural season they placed second in the PCHL losing to the Seattle Ironmen in the championship game. The next season (1945–46) the Eagles placed first in their division and went on to defeat the Ironmen in the semifinals. However, the Eagles would be swept by the Los Angeles Monarchs in the finals. The Eagles would go on to make the playoffs twice in their remaining seasons both times resulting in a first-round loss. The team changed its name to the Portland Penguins for the 1949–50 season. In 1950–51, the team's final season, the Eagles name was brought back and Tony Hemmerling was appointed head coach. Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. Bill Kyle
William Miller Kyle (December 23, 1924 – April 17, 1968) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played three games in the National Hockey League, with the New York Rangers during the 1949–50 and 1950–51 seasons. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1945 to 1961, was spent in various minor leagues. Kyle is also NHL record holder for the best single season points per game average with 3.00 in 1950–51, scoring 3 points in his one game that season. Aubrey Webster
Aubrey Webster (September 25, 1910 – November 1, 1999) was a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger who played five games over two seasons in the National Hockey League. In 1930–31 he played one game for the Philadelphia Quakers, and then in 1934–35 played four games for the Montreal Maroons. The rest of Webster's career, which lasted from 1930 to 1946, was spent in various minor leagues. He was the last surviving former player of the Philadelphia Quakers. John McDonald (ice Hockey)
John Albert McDonald (November 24, 1921 – March 13, 1990) was a professional ice hockey player who played 43 games in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers during the 1943–44 season. Career McDonald was born November 24, 1921 in Swan River, Manitoba. Known as Jack, he had a playing height of 6'1" and 215 lbs, which was big for the era. A high-scoring left winger, he captained the Portage Terriers during the 1939–40 and 1941–42 seasons that won the Memorial Cup. The 1942-43 season was spent with the Flin Flon Bombers of the Saskatchewan Senior Hockey League. McDonald joined the New York Rangers for the 1943–44 season, one of several wartime additions. Edward George "Eddie" Kullman (December 12, 1923 – March 15, 1997) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 343 games in the National Hockey League, all for the New York Rangers.
