Porterfield is a town in Marinette County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,991 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated communities of Bagley Junction, Miles, Porterfield, Rubys Corner, and Walsh are located in the town. History The Town of Porterfield was separated from the original two townships in the county, Marinette and Peshtigo, on 26 March 1887. It was named after a local farmer and businessman, John Porterfield. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 53.3 square miles (138.1 km2), of which, 51.8 square miles (134.1 km2) of it is land and 1.5 square miles (4.0 km2) of it (2.89%) is water. HM Prison Inverness, also known as Porterfield Prison, is located in the Crown area of Inverness, Scotland, and serves the courts of the Highlands and Islands. It covers all the courts in the Western Isles as well as courts from Fort William, Wick and Elgin. A small local prison, it deals with inmates serving up to 4 years, with female prisoners serving up to 2 years. Its capacity is 103 prisoners. The establishment is Governed by Brian McKirdy. Renfrew Porterfield Railway Station
Renfrew Porterfield railway station served the town of Renfrew, Renfrewshire, Scotland from 1903 to 1926 on the Glasgow and Renfrew District Railway. The station was a terminus, situated on the north side of Porterfield Road, directly across from Renfrew South and consisted of two platforms. It was constructed within the Babcock and Wilcox Works, located to the south of Renfrew on the east bank of the White Cart Water. The station was built west of the original Paisley and Renfrew Railway, which was initially connected to it. The station's island platform facilitated trains that departed to the north, with looped lines running down either side of it. There was also a building on the platform with canopies. To the west, there was a substantial goods yard that could be accessed from the north, and it had headshunts to the north as well. Additionally, sidings on the west side ran to the works buildings.
